Ancelotti:
"I'm very happy with the squad. We don't need any more players."
"The important thing is to create a style of play that is comfortable for my players.
"Our objective is not only to win but to also play beautiful attacking football."

Re: Gareth Bale transfer saga
Times change. Ramos is the leader in our defence, nothing to do with nationality. his direct replacement is not Pepe or Varane but Nacho. Varane is injured and won't come back for a long time so he will have to win his place back if Pepe does well much similar to the Lopez/Iker conundrumNirgall wrote:come on, are we suppose to believen that Ramos, who only a couple of seasons ago, was widely criticized for frequently loosing positions is now irreplaceable. Let's remember that Pepe wasn't doing badly before Ramos was decide to be too unreliable of a Fullback, and Varane is quite solid.halamadrid2 wrote:Its a combination of nobody being able to replace them and them actually being great that has made them indispensable. Carlo likes him alotNirgall wrote:As to why Ramos, Carvajal and Isco are safe, please refer to my topic "special treatment to national players in their leagues". Another reason why I want di maria to leave madrid.
Carvajal and Isco have done good pre seasons. That is all. is that enough to secure a place in Real madrid eleven above all competion? That's up to having the correct passport.
Ronaldo, i'm not gonna argue. He is earned it. The only one.
Carvajal has no competition. His only competition is Arbeloa another spaniard who can't defend to save his life. Isco runs the show for us. There are no direct replacements for him although DiMaria can come on to a slightly changed formation like he has done on occasions in preseason

Re: Gareth Bale transfer saga
if a hot headed, tactically loose defender becomes the "leader" of the defence of the team with the most money in the world, it's either because too many people made wrong choices or some other characteristics besides football quality got in to the mix.halamadrid2 wrote:Times change. Have you ever considered why Carvajal has no competition? or Ramos before him when he was playing that position? or Casillas before his quarrel with Mourinho? Do you think it is because Real madrid can't afford it?
And Isco Already runs the show because of a couple of pre season matches? Really? Is he the first player to have dazzled with a couple of high level performances at irrelevant matches? Did sneijder never happened? Have di Maria and ozil not dazzled more than a couple of times? has any of them been assured a place for what is clearly not yet a long time of consistent assured performances? What do you think is the difference between them?

Re: Gareth Bale transfer saga
Actually Carvajal has competition from Arbeloa. The latter is a much smarter defender.
Re: Gareth Bale transfer saga
Both are far from world class. No effort was made to secure a world class right full back.danyjr wrote:Actually Carvajal has competition from Arbeloa. The latter is a much smarter defender.

Re: Gareth Bale transfer saga
there is no point wasting money on unnecessary signings. We won the league with this so called hot dude running our defence. Carvajal is an academy player again nothing to do with nationality. We have one of the best academies in Europe but have been criticised for not promoting many to the first team
Arbeloa is an academy player as well and a decent experienced back up. Both Lopez and Iker again are from our academy. In fact I applaud our change of direction. Marcelo is another one regarded as indispensable to us even when we had Coentrao another great defender we now have to sell because we wasted money buying a back up player we could have picked up cheap from one of the spanish teams or from our reserve
We are yet to see how Isco will play but he fits Carlos posession ideas perfectly. him and modric will be instrumental to us keeping posession. Also you seem to forget Isco already did well before he came to us so its not like we have only seen him in preseason

Re: Gareth Bale transfer saga
Di Maria is no longer good enough, Isco is pretty much replacing him.
A RB was needed so Carvajal was bought. He was apparently the best RB in Bundesliga last season and was rated the highest on whoscored. There aren't many WC RB's out there anyway. Having Carvajal makes sense.

also nirgall. Carvajal was named in the top two RBs in Bundesliga while he played there. I think we will be comfortable with him thank you very much
Also Iker has been voted the best keeper in the world for years and years. lol at the nationality bias on this part. Maybe bias within our club against another Spaniard who has done well in his abscence but not more

Re: Gareth Bale transfer saga
Isco didn't replace anyone really. We are playing with a LAM who drops back and helps out in the middle. DiMaria is too direct to do that. We will have to change the way we play if DiMaria plays there (like we have seen on occasions)Yohan Modric wrote:Di Maria is no longer good enough, Isco is pretty much replacing him.

The WC winning Spanish right back is no competition for a 21-year-old who's just come back from Bundesliga...gg brah

again not playing the same way/position
Ozil is the one who has benched him. I do see where you are coming from tho.

Re: Gareth Bale transfer saga
Things opened up once Chadli stopped cutting into the middle of the pitch. I like the way the team looks, but it'll still be a few games before the chemistry is there. Should of won by more except for some poorly placed finishes. Oh well, 3 points, and not in the relegation zone.Adit wrote:Watching spurs atm and they horribly lack creative players.

Re: Gareth Bale transfer saga
Definitely in need of some creative influence. Siggy wasn't good enough, and Dembele needs more freedom to push forward. Team definitely looks like they're still gelling.
Though aside from the penalty, two clear cut chances were created that should have been put away. A 3-0 result and it's hard to say they didn't create anything but since Defoe and Siggy didn't put them away, it doesn't look as good. Some other half chances were created in addition to that, and Lennon made a couple bad decisions that could have led to goals.
It will get better as the season goes on.
I'm resigned to losing Bale though. I'm not sure whether he's really injured at his point or not, but it seems he's on the way out. AVB said "the player doesn't speak".

not saying bale is the finisher madrid need but the game would have been put away by half had those multiple sitters and offsides been scored by benz

smh how do you know these things as fact, this reminds me of how everyone goes on and on about higuain runs and how clinical he was with us and then pretend he didn't miss 1v1 against every decent team he played againstvanDEEZ wrote:not saying bale is the finisher madrid need but the game would have been put away by half had those multiple sitters and offsides been scored by benz
