Well the biggest difference is that the 4-3-1-2 is extremely narrow and relies on FB's for width as opposed to 4-3-3 where you already have 2 wide players

Re: What is the difference between 4-3-1-2 and 4-3-3 false 9
Well the most important point of the formation is the CAM, if he doesn't have anyone to thrive off of up top then it isn't optimal. The strikers also create space for each other and try to find channels of space
It really depends where you want the presence of the team, if you are opting to play with 2 wide men then go with the 4-3-3, if you want more presence uptop then use the 4-3-1-2 but know that each formation has its distinct requirements

4-2-3-1 is basically the 4-3-3 IMO.

I think the only difference would be the 3 in midfield between a 4-2-3-1 and a 4-3-3... Ina 4-3-3 the midfield probably is 1 DM and 2 Cm's, whereas it's the other way around in 4-2-3-1 of course, although I agree it's very similar

The difference is defensively as when on attack 433 false 9 does look alot lke a 4312.But defensively both the wingers/inside forwards in 433 has to mark his full back but in 4312 both the two forwards are given very little defensive responsibility and opposition full backs are often unmarked.

Other than having 2 wingers instead of 2 forwards, a 4-3-3 usually has a DM and 2 CM's.
The 3 midfielders in a 4-3-1-2 have different roles I think.

The players who play in it are the difference.
The players decide everything.

Re: What is the difference between 4-3-1-2 and 4-3-3 false 9
It really all depends on the players. For example, Bayern for most of last season on paper played a 4231 with Schweini and Martinez behind Kroos, Robben/Muller, Ribery, and Mandzukic. But it was actually a 433 with a Schweini Kroos and Martinez midfield.
Overall, depending on the players, any formation could easily become any other one. Juventus is a good example of this. We play a 3-5-2 on paper but that's as far as that goes. When we defend its a 5-3-2. When we attack its a 3-3-4. When Bonucci pushes up it becomes something of a narrow 4-4-2. When Marchisio plays as a SS it becomes a 3-5-1-1.

Re: What is the difference between 4-3-1-2 and 4-3-3 false 9
Again, it depends on the players. For example last season Bayern used a 4-2-3-1 with Kroos as the AM in the center of the "3". That made that into basically a 4-3-3 since Kroos also drops deep a lot.
In contrast, Real Madrid play a 4-2-3-1 with Ronaldo on the left, Di Maria on the right and Ozil in the center of the "3". Ronaldo likes to drift inside though and Ozil likes to drift to the wings, making it more like a 4-4-2.

Re: What is the difference between 4-3-1-2 and 4-3-3 false 9
Roles of false 9
a. Collect the ball from am. Since he his generally best finisher in team defenders double or sometimes triple mark him making spaces for RW/LW to run through defence.false 9 makes final ball generally lofted throughball for RW/LW
b.as soon as f9 receives ball players get ready to do quick 1-2 with him eg. Barca under pep.
C. As f9 is also gud dribbler he dribbles directly through defence
Am in 4-3-1-2
His main role is to hold ball till strikers take positions also make through ball. It does not want great finishing as false 9 does.his job simply is to provide service to main strikers
