Re: Anti Rooney thread
Cavani was on hot form.. Rooney was up and down all the time. + he might be growing hair but he is not getting any younger.
Re: Anti Rooney thread
Lukaku doesn't have a divine right to start. He's a 20 year old kid who wasn't even automatic first choice at West Brom. He has a long way to go and in the meantime, someone like Rooney is exactly what Chelsea need to seriously compete for major honours, because if anyone thinks Lukaku is gonna win us the title or take us to the semis of the CL at this stage in his development, they're having a laugh.

Might it have anything to do with the fact that he was shifted about the team for most of his United career? One week up top, the next out wide, then in the hole, then deep in midfield...
And yet even despite that, he still put up good goal tallies every year and exceptional ones for many of them. 34 the year before last before Van Rapist was brought in, was it?
He's better than anything we have right now.

Re: Anti Rooney thread
Lukaku is currently third choice striker, I'm sure he will get better playing time but he is still super young, I think he will be used like bolatelli was at man city. But I also feel four strikers is too much, if we get Rooney we have to sell Torres or ba.fatman123 wrote:If we have to sign someone i wouldve rathered Higuain, but im not too worried about us getting Shrek, im just worried about him eating up too many of Lukakus minutes

I think Ba is on the way out anyway.

Because I don't like him and the excess baggage he brings. We're not going to baby any player at Chelsea.Shed wrote:So what you're basically saying then is that a player you yourself value as a 40m pound striker is someone you don't want at Chelsea.
How does that work?

Re: Anti Rooney thread
All this drama, we hardly have players act like this. If he can conduct himself at United the way he does right now, he won't think twice before making demands at Chelsea.Uncanny wrote:How is he bringing extra baggage?Blue Barrett wrote:Because I don't like him and the excess baggage he brings. Plus he seems to be out of shape. That indicates he doesn't take good care of his body.
And he plays for f**kin Yanited.
And I hate him.

Re: Anti Rooney thread
Reasons for and against signing Rooney:
For:
1. Still one of the best striker in BPL and the world if used correctly
2. He is not just a striker, he is as effective in CF/CAM/CM and even on the wings when needed to be
3. His work rate is among the best there are in world football, he can joins defending pretty well when needed. This would suit us when we need to pack the bus
4. His shirt sell is among the most popular in world football, if I remember correctly there was a top 10 list in BPL and he was like 2nd or 3rd I think. THIS MEAN HE CAN MAKES US MILLIONS ALONE TO PAY BACK HIS FEE. There is the article I found http://www.dailymail...uis-Suarez.html
5. He got plenty of mates here English wise in Lampard, Terry, Cole...etc
6. He is proven in BPL so people can stop complaining about that
7. He is quite complete striker, he can score goals from practically any where. Long range, header, free kick, penalty, open play...etc
8. He is not someone who will crumble under pressure like Torres. Actually because of his despicable personality, he can take any thing throw at him like Suarez which is a good trait for a top class striker
Against:
1. Just had a not so amazing season but he had to play in midfield most of the time and second fiddle to RVP
2. He want a long term deal on £250k per week min, which mean he will cost us around £12m each year for the next 4-5 years
3. His personality, but I believe Jose can handle this
4. His life style, it is not exactly perfect and this could hamper his fitness
5. Injuries. He seems to pick them up more regularly lately than before but I don't think he will encounter nay serious problem. And beside, we got Lukaku, Ba/Torres(one will be sold if Rooney comes)

Omg, you Chelsea fans are defending Rooney and making excuses for his performances, which shows that actually you have always had a soft spot for the guy.

That soft spot covered when he grew hair on his soft spot in the head!
Rooney is arrogant, hot tempered, expensive. Football wise he is good, hard working alright, but there is definitely going to be drama in the club with him. I think we don't need any drama(on top of what we have right now). We can get Higuain or even Dzeko if we try. I don't know who, but I prefer someone else over Rooney. But if he comes, won't hate him

Re: Anti Rooney thread
Impossible to tell would Rooney in London blue work out well or not, but what makes it a little scary (from Chelsea's rivals' point of view) is that he wants a transfer for footballing reasons, so he would be very motivated to do well. A motivated Rooney in top form could be a great addition to any squad.

Re: Anti Rooney thread
Luckily I ran into Mou today morning He was in white and blue and I asked him if Rooney is in. He said Rooney is gone to a Spanish Club and was reluctant to say which club. On insisting he said it looks white and gold. so Madrid it is.
I got on to legacy forums and yelled at a bunch of Madrid fans and said - "Do you not remember me saying last season this would happen - pairing of CR7 & Roo"
But Damn.....my alarm had to go crazy right then

Re: Anti Rooney thread
Ehh I don't think he will bring any drama, if at all he can easily become first choice striker here, but the only real thing I'm worried about is his contract length if the move happens at all.

I'm with you. I hate that *bleep*.
I'm not one to change my opinion lightly, he's better than any of our strikers but he's someone I'll never be able to like.
Why not sign Suarez if we're going down this route? younger, cheaper and better

As well as more expensive and with infinitely more baggage. Oh, and of course the fact that he bit one of our players.

Re: Anti Rooney thread
Imagine Suarez and Iva meeting up for their first training session
Although id much rather Higuain, impartial to this really, although we do need another striker if must be Rooney then it must be Rooney

Younger & Better - Yes
But Cheaper??? 40 million pounds and he will not play for the first 10 games i.e 2 months. Issue with English teams signing him is he would want to leave for La Liga teams at some point.

Re: Anti Rooney thread
i doubt rooney would go the same route as torres, but one thing i will say about rooney is his fitness issues which im not entirely clear about. What I understand is that he needs to keep at it when off the field too. But other than that he's still a sharp shooter. But Mourinho holds him pretty high regards so lets see how this summer transfer saga goes.
