In any case, we paid the release clause which is an obligatory clause in all La Liga contracts. I sort of like it, because it means a players has absolute maximum value set. Otherwise you get stuff like Carrol and Bent going for 5 times their normal value. Also, valuation of players is quite subjective, you know. Have you ever heard Perez's "the most expensive players are the cheapest players" speech? Smile

P.S.: We all know we got robbed, but we always do, can't imagine anybody really cares about it, though.

I never said Madrid cared about overpaying.PSG,City,Madrid..they dont give 2 cents about that because they can splash the cash on whoever they want.Im just saying its stupid business paying 40M for a player who has been doing well for,what, 1 season?its pretty ridiculous

Whenever you want to buy something that is not for sale, you end up spending beyond the initial value. La Real had no intentions of selling and Real Madrid literally had to offer a price they couldn't refuse. Other cheaper options were available but Illarra was what Perez and Carlo wanted.

Anyway, Barcelona bought Neymar for 17 million (apparently) so that can be an example of a top club doing something sensible...

Like it was stated above both clubs are claiming two different prices so we dont know if he actually cost 40m. I agree though. In a non inflated market for the player that Illara is right now he would not go for over 20m. But If you want one of the brightest young talents in the league and the team does not want to sell its going to cost you. And illara did more than well last season.

we payed €32.190.000 including VAT according to our official website. His release clause is €30mill so if you are desperate to get someone and their club is desperate to keep onto their players you can't do much but turn to the buyout clause. His real valuation is less than €20mill which Perez first proposed when he was rejected. We could have gotten Kondogbia for €7mill but chose Illaramendi because he is better and would be the direct replacement to Alonso once he leaves next season

same as Martinez, he wasn't worth €40mill but Athletico did not want to sell him so bayern had to pay it as that was his release clause

if LaReal didn't have an election coming up we would have been in a much better position negotiations wise. our desperation coupled with their reluctancy to let go due to public pressure was the source of that sum

Mauricio Isla’s move to Inter is progressing. Slowly but surely the two parties are getting closer. Inter is willing to get to 6.5 million, while Juve is considering accepting 7 million plus a bonus. An interesting detail is fact Isla is willing to reduce his salary to help move the deal along, he would accept a cut of 200,000 euro before taxes per season, for a total of 800,000 euro over course of his contract.
