I think Real Madrid would give him time since he is part of the next generation of talented Spaniards. My concern is with Isco himself. Does he have the willpower to accept and adapt to his new role?!

I won't call him a flop just yet, way too early for that.. However I never saw a need for him in the first place, and I always preferred Ozil

"Doing better" doesn't exactly mean to succeed.

That's the million dollar question. If he does have patience he can really adapt to that false 9 role maybe towards the end of next preseason. But the onus is on him. Is he willing to only come off the bench for the remainder of the season and maybe for the start of next?

It's not a question of only accepting to come off the bench... it's also about coming off the bench and being effective. To me, Morata is far more effective backing up Benzema. I even feel that Jese would do better.

agree with that but you have to consider how many games they have played in the said position. Jese and Morara have done it many many times. Isco has done it two or three times. So he hasn't really adapted to that position yet. That said I am not happy with him taking Moratas minute who I think could have a bright future as a number 9 if given the chance

Carlo today:

"This is a very difficult question. Let's be honest ... I'm not here to work for a player but to work for Real Madrid and so, from time to time, you may not be as fair with some players. It is normal if Isco is not happy. It is normal that he has the desire to play. As I said, he is penalized a bit but I hope that at the end of season we can say he was an important player for the team. He did well when he played. I have no doubt of his talent and his future here. "

Laughing.

Future is looking grim for him. I just cant see him being deployed as a bench material for future purpose. No idea what happened to him, Carlo was keen to introduce him in the preseason and early on, He was still performing great atleast on technical level but seems to fall out with Carlos tactics. He is being played as AM yet he has no traits of what an AM is. Centre midfield is too stacked. Maybe as a SMF in a 4 man midfield.

That choice to play him as a false 9 few days ago was a laughable decision tho.

No idea what is Ancelotti trying to do with him. He was played as a false 9 which was a disgrace, either play him at his position or dont play him at all.

He was actually pretty good in the second half against Atletico when he was playing deep as a center midfielder. Problem is again...Isco played CM,LW and False 9 all the roles in one single fking game...how is a player going to perform when he is constantly played in different roles?

Sometimes its not the coach who changes the position of a player but the player himself because he has no positional sense. Isco is an example of that. He drops deep because he likes touching the ball but doesn't care if he messes up our shape in the process. I don't like how Carlo plays Isco over Morata at the number 9 role. Complete and utter bonkers

I just think Carlo wants to find some minutes for him. My hunch is that Carlo likes him as a player, but can't find space for him in the team...but still feels as though he could use him when the shape we're using right now stagnates.

So he wants to find minutes for him...

Where are minutes available? CM and CF. He has Di Maria and Illaramedi at CM both of whom are better for the teams stability. He has Benzema whose minutes he wants to manage and who won't bitch if he don't play a game or two. So that's that.

No it isnt, Isco played at false 9 because Carlo asked him to do..

He played at LW after that because Ronaldo wanted to switch.

He played at CM after Carlo subbed in Jese for one of our center midfielder.

Isco didnt decide anything ,he isnt that stupid and he is no Ronaldo to switch positions as he likes..

I'll add by the way, he would be ridiculous for City. Nasri would not see the pitch. Their pace suits him, when someone passes and moves they return, the league on the whole suits him.

Just a bad career decision.

We cant lose him. I havent seen a 21 year old with better close control and first touch in years... he is tactically limited but no one can deny his ball skills.

Same Ronaldo who doesn't like being played at cf wanted to switch to cf???

So when jese came on we played with no cf?? because I seem to recall jese only playing LW and nothing else. He came on for Ronaldo not cms. Casemiro came on for Modric

Now I know Isco isn't bigoted but if he was any smarter he'd know he can't hold on to the ball for an eternity and play whatever position fits him best on the night

@josh, it is very evident he is trying to find minutes for him in whatever position. But I am not happy he plays him over a more capable CF. He is basically telling Morata that he isn't needed which he is. Our cms need resting sometimes, wouldn't that be a better position to get minutes in when we are 3-0 up late in a game rather than false 9, while in the process running our midfielders to the ground?
