Both Bayern München and the BVB decided to help raising funds for the victims of the current flood catastrophe that put vast areas in South and East Germany under water.

While Bayern decided to play a charity match against a local team of the Passau region which is heavily affected in Bavaria, the BVB will donate most of the matchday revenue of the season opening match to the charity "Ein Herz für Kinder" that offers help to children in emergency situations.
