La Liga is home to the world's two greatest players. It is only entertaining because people want to measure the success rate of Ronaldo and Messi.

So when Ronaldo goes, which he surely will, as Messi has grown up at Barca and has a very deep connection with the club , what will happen to La Liga?

It won't be half as entertaining. It won't be fun watching Messi and Barca obliterate weak Spanish teams week in, week out. With Falcao likely going to Chelsea next season, prepare for La Liga's stock to plummet.

It's only because CR7 ventured over to Spain after becoming the king of England that it became really interesting. Face it, Barca fans (myself included), you NEED Ronaldo to get that amped up fire every week.

He'll go back to EPL and Messi will continue to do well, it just won't be half as exciting to watch. Madrid will crumble.

Even if Ronaldo leaves, we'll still be competitive. There's other players we can buy. We've won La Liga before Ronaldo too.

The question I think is, 'If Ronaldo leaves La Liga, will it be as competitive as it is now and will Messi totally dominate?'

doesn't he have a pt though?

if R9 leaves, Messi will suffer a depression and eat more burgers, La Liga will lose a lot of money and viewership, and many foreign players won't be as attracted to it as it used to in the last say 8yrs, but all the same, "many players still wanna play for Madrid" according to Madrid fans, which is in some way true so you never know....

You don't have to score 4-6 every game.

Replacing Ronaldo's goals is impossible, but replacing goals itself isn't. Madrid have won titles before him and will continue to win after him.

Tbf he does have a point, its undeniable La Liga become a lot more popular to the masses when Ronaldo came and making the CR V Messi WWE like storyline.

It will still be a very good league, always has been always will be but unless Ronaldo's shining star is replaced by someone of similar stardom it won't be as popular IMO.

In all seriousness now: Ronaldo's contribution is overrated. Under Pellegrini Ronaldo was injured for 1/3 of the season and didn't score gazillions goals and Madrid reached 96 points still with Higuain as topscorer. Manchester United didn't exactly crumble either after Ronaldo left. They went on to become champions twice and reached another CL final. They were more successful than Ronaldo. Laughing

The day Ronaldo leaves Madrid will just become a more balanced side again with goals spread all over the pitch instead of every attacking move predictably going through Ronaldo. Both Madrid and Barca have built their teams so much around Messi and Ronaldo nowadays that if they aren't fit, the whole team crumbles. See the recent semi-finals. You don't need Ronaldo or Messi to be competitive.

It's good to see the forums haven't lost an ounce of haterade or sarcasm. I could spend a few paragraphs explaining or I could cut right through to the chase- La Liga won't be as interesting without Ronaldo. It wont have that heated rivalry between the fans as much, and seeig Barca Destriy everyone with the odd blip against Atletico and possibly, Valenica, will make for a boring league. EPL is honestly a bit more entertaining, as is Serie A, if for no other reason than having a slightly more balanced league.
