Re: Another Notch On 'Arry's Belt
Apart from Cesar no player has a hope in hell getting into a 'top' team.
Remy? overrated, good but nothing more.

Well , Hughes was pretty abysmal .
But Harry was bought in to do the survival act and was given big money to spend . He knew what he was supposed to do - giving Samba a 100k contract and getting the club relegated was not part of the plan .

Re: Another Notch On 'Arry's Belt
Well, that's irrational lol.. it's quite obvious that the points gap will be much fewer in the earlier part of the season than now. Besides, QPR were pretty bad when it comes to morale when Sparky left considering the fact that they hadn't won a single game before he got the boot.
P.S: Just checked the points table. QPR were 7 points from safety when Hughes got the sack and now they are 9 points behind. That's not much..

Re: Another Notch On 'Arry's Belt
Once QPR got a draw against Wigan and Aston Villa beat Stoke 3 weeks ago, pushing the deficit for the 17 spot to more than 6 points, the players gave up. Psychologically, having to make up more than a point a game with so few games left... it takes it out of you. Players aren't robots. They can figure out simple odds.RedOranje wrote:If QPR win their next 3 games they'll have a maximum of 34 points.
The last two games were under 'Arry, right? So while it might not be conducive to your argument it still counts toward his record. And surely a manager has some part of the blame if the players fail to believe in the cause, especially when he brought a number of them in on extremely high wages and/or fees.

Re: Another Notch On 'Arry's Belt
They probably need to let some players leave for free so that the signing club are willing to pay them their current wages. Or pay some players a chunk of money so that they accept a pay-cut at their new club. In any case it won't be a financially sunny summer for QPR.

Re: Another Notch On 'Arry's Belt
But with the addition of big money signings they would be expected to IMPROVE relative to other relegation battlers, not stay the same or become worse off... and surely it would be expected that the new manager would deal with morale issues that were caused by the previous man in charge, especially a manager known for his supposed man-management skills. However, QPR look as divided and devoid of motivation now as they did when Harry took over. Again, a manager, especially one of Redknapp's style, is expected to work with the players and keep them going. If they gave up or aren't working as a team then that is both a personnel and a managerial issue. Questions have to be asked.

Re: Another Notch On 'Arry's Belt
Harry takes some blame, but at the end of the day he inherited a doomed squad full of players he probably wouldn't have looked at.
I thought he might save them, but the odds were against them.
These vastly overpaid players were quite frankly a disgrace. I hope QPR stay down for good measure. One of the worst teams ever to play in the Prem, and they sure weren't cheap.

Two relegations in a row, I wonder if Junior Hoilett still thinks he's too good to play for our friends from the North.

Re: Another Notch On 'Arry's Belt
Harry only got two new players... Remy and Samba. He couldn't convince anyone to join lol. He had to throw silly money at Remy and Samba because he had no option. Remy has performed. Samba has been atrocious. As far as the previous summer's signings = atrocious other than Cesar and Mbiwa. Granero, Bosingwa, etc. have all flopped massively.
He tried. I think he did ok with the cards he was given. You can't blame him for this relegation. These weren't his players and he had no preseason to implement his style. Tried to bandaid the season and it failed.

Re: Another Notch On 'Arry's Belt
He bought Jenas and Townsend too, the latter being quite impressive.
Besides he does take blame, 4 wins in 21 is relegation form.
Also Granero and Bosingwa have flopped also, which is why Arry benched them the majority of the time he was there.
You can't dissolve Arry of all blame, he had enough time to turn it around and wasn't good enough.

Granero, Mbia will leave I think players that want to salvage their career but the older scrubs on stupid wages will stay put. I think Arry will leave, doesn't have the heart for the Championship battle to come for them.

QPR owner tweeted that he'll be meeting with Harry tomorrow to discuss the squad for next season, so unless Harry tells him at the meeting that he'll be leaving, I'd say it's looking likelier that he'll stay.

Re: Another Notch On 'Arry's Belt
Really cant see him dropping down to the championship.
I really think he will be Newcastle manager come the start of next season if his besy m8 Ashley can tempt him to leave the sandbanks.
I think a final hoorah at a big club will be too hard for him to turn down.

Re: Another Notch On 'Arry's Belt
They're on equal points as Reading ffs. I doubt there's anyone at Reading on £100k and brought in for £11 million. I haven't got the figures, but I'd go so far as to guess that Swansea cost 1/3 what QPR took to assemble and they have a trophy under their belt AND are miles above the drop zone

I'm actually gutted for Tony Fernandes, coz he's a swell guy, and really looks like he cares about his projects. His is a story of fighting against the odds to get to where he is today, so i doubt he'll give up on QPR easily.
Also, he has Indian roots so..

So will Cisse, Barton and Faurlin who are out on loan.
Not sure how they got relegated though. That squad should have at least stayed up with the quality they have.
In terms of Redknapp, I'm sure it won't detriment his reputation too much.
-Donttreadonyoda
It does not make a team, but a good manager would make those players a GOOD team.
In Hughes & Redknapp QPR did not posses that.
