I aggree, RVP went of the boil while all the professionals think Suarez is a bit of twat which is actually true so guess he is favourite.
Not just that, there is an argument that Bale has been better.
Not really, Bale's sick form lasted for 2 months aside before that it was just good and he wasn't really making the difference till January.
Suarez i can accept although he was never clutch or making the difference in victories as much as RVP did.
Although i will accept both Bale and Suarez are more entertaining so maybe thats why people are voting them instead of RVP because if it was based on clutch factor and winning games for your team he would be walking it

No other under 21 players to choose from besides Welbeck (not implying he didn't have a good season...or maybe I am)?!

There are plenty tbh but were overlooked sadly, and the rules are stupid you only have to be under 23.

He had an awful season, cover it up whichever way you want but he's a forward who has one goal in over 1,200 minutes. That's awful I'd expect better from any striker coming up from the championship.

Carrick? Hazard? Wilshere? Welbeck? wtf
If I had to nominate players, they would've been:
PFA Player of the Year: Bale, Cazorla, Fellaini, Mata, Suarez, van Persie
PFA Young Player of the Year: Bale, Benteke, Hazard, Lukaku, Rafael, Walcott (Sterling?)

Bale doesn't deserve it more than Suarez; the latter has had a better individual season. Although its obvious Bale will win it because of him being British and Suarez's notoriety.

Re: PFA Player of the Year
why would you nominate walcott?
anyway, i reckon players vote based on who impressed them most when they played against them as opposed to looking at consistency .

Re: PFA Player of the Year
Or Bale would win it because he had as good as season as Suarez or perhaps better but I like the your reason better.
And yes, Felliani should have been damn well nominated/shortlisted. I mean, I know players don't follow football like fans but come on, how could you not pick Felliani, just by the hair alone he is recognizable...

Well, Walcott was brilliant during the last couple of months of 2012.. although he's cooled down a little bit now. He's certainly a way better pick than Welbeck and Wilshere.

No love for Mata in this thread?
Carried Chelsea as much as Bale or RVP IMO.
A worthy contender.

Except that he hasn't everyone likes the hipster choice though.
Also even if he had carried Chelsea as much as RVP has carried Man Yoo then wouldn't that make him inferior considering Chelsea are 3rd and Man Yoo are waltzing towards the title

Yes, because how well you carry your team directly effects your position, not other factors such as the manager or your team mates....

List is not bad. Just replace Hazard with Michu and it's actually the perfect shortlist.

Re: PFA Player of the Year
Regarding hte PFA nomination, I agree with 5 of the six nominations. Suarez, Bale, RVP, Mata and Carrick all deserve to be there. Moreover, I think the two players (Mata and Carrick) who didn't get the press attention prior to being nominated are fully deserving of their place. In fact, I would argue that Carrick has produced a higher average performance than RVP over the course of the entire season, and over the course of most individual matches. He's been the solid, reassuring force in the midfield that United have so desperately needed in previous season (a relative term, I realize). I simply don't think his stats, or his nonchalant and workman-like style, are eye-catching enough to get him real consideration. However, I digress from my intended point...
Hazard?!? Really... How did he end up in this conversation. As I said, the other five have at least contributed for long stretches of the season, even if they have had their runs of lacklustre (by their standards) performance. Hazard has been inconsistent at best this year. He's a quality player, to be sure, and may well turn into a perennial contender for this award in the future. However, this season has shown him oscillate between moments of utter brilliance and somewhat anonymous performances. Moreover, there's that whole incident with the ball boy at Swansea... WHile that may not, nor should it, necessarily disqualify him from contention, it certainly doesn't help his case. How he made it into the list ahead of players like Baines, Michu, Vertonghen and Zabaleta, I will never understand.
As for PFA Young POTY, I personally think Bale will run away with the award, regardless of if he wins the POTY award. Again, I have a small problem with Hazard being included for the above reason. However, I understand it more with the Young POTY award. Inconsistency counts for less and potential more in this category.
On the other hand, despite Welbeck's obvious potential, the hard facts are that he has not produced this season. In a position where stats matter perhaps more than any other place on the pitch, he has failed to produce them. Yes, he's risen to some big occasions over the course of the year. However, I simply can't agree with calling a striker who doesn't score goals the POTY in any category.

Not sure why its hilarious, he's one of the two players who actually deserve it.
The rest are merely making the numbers up.

Agree with that although you can make arguments for quite a few instead of Hazard.
Young player is always ridiculous, there are so many choices missing who deserve it more.
Not to mention the ruling is idiotic anyway.... under 23 ffs personally i think they should change it to under 21 or a breakout type award.
Its never going to be good when the players are voting anyway.

Re: PFA Player of the Year
Got to say Bale is the favorite in both categories - if he wins he's gonna b only the 3rd player to ever win both senior + young player award in the same season.
Also, given the nature of these awards, im surprised Sterling is missing from the young player nominees. Isnt he like the next great english hope or something (aftr Wilshere) ?

Dat bravery
1 goal in over 1,200 minutes in the Prem as a forward. And he gets in to the young player of the year nominees because he works hard and had an injury
Is it me? Or is running non-stop actually becoming a more and more important trait for strikers compared to goals, which seemingly mean fk all.
He has played largely on the wing this season. Like RG said, he's there mainly for his MOTM performances v RM in both ties. The biggest surprise for me is the inclusion of Hazard & Michu being overlooked.
Bale is a dead cert for YPOTY. POTY is a toss up between RVP and Suarez.

Re: PFA Player of the Year
Sterling had a sterling start to the season but faded quickly and hasn't played much at all in this second half of the season as we've brought in attacking reinforcements. He certainly hasn't done enough to earn a place on the list, despite impressing at times.

Re: PFA Player of the Year
Carrick deserves his spot 100% but Welbeck definitely does not.
He done well against RM but I remember he missed an out right sitter at one point too. But even without holding that against him, that was in the CL. In the league he's an attacker with 1 goal and ... (Not many) assists. I don't know the number.
Doesn't deserve it, Carrick on the other hand has been very good.

Re: PFA Player of the Year
Bale's incredible run of form only started in February. Before he was more in the mold of Hazards and Cazorlas. Only in February did he play consistently awesome like RVP and Suarez. RVP only played consistenly awesome until February. His poor run of form in the past 3 months might cost him (and it should). Suarez for me is the only one who has played exceptionally all season.

Cmon man he has had dips in form too, there was a stage where he went 8 games without scoring and two occasions he has gone 4 games without scoring and one of them he is going through at the moment.
He has gone as much dips as RVP has, only difference being is when Suarez goes through a dip he comes back with hatricks
Bale has been consistently good through out the season for me but only performed at player of the year level for 2 months.
So i would say its between RVP and Suarez but lets not act like Suarez hasn't suffered dips in form like RVP because he has.
