Agreed with Dani. This team has abandoned a lot of Pep's tactical instructions. It's sad to watch as a neutral. The pressing is gone. Even against Milan it was nowhere near the levels of 2011.

I am tired of hearing how we are tired, its so lame.

They dont press because they cant be bothered or they dont practice it anymore, I think both.

Well you don't press as effectively or consistently as you did.

Milan home was the closest i have seen and as Jibers said even that is nowhere close to 2011.

Bayern consistently press effectively week in week out just like Barca used to i actually see a lot of Barca 2011 in them although they are not at that level yet.

Mole there is something so functional about Bayern's football isn't there. Juup has instilled modern football but they have retained that German functionality and effeciecy about them. Very similar to Barcelona in 2011 but they playe very differently. Manz missing is a big tactical loss for them.

PSG were playing rather deep in the second half so they were not covering much distance.

I'm fairly certain the Barca players weren't making just pointless lap runs.

You're last statement is much funnier though. Playing deep doesn't mean you don't have to cover ground. Most teams that play deep against Barca start to completely tire out after a while. Why do you think this is?

Obviously the laps thing was an extreme example but it still applies. There can be movement that isn't pressing. Distance covered is not an accurate indication of pressing.

As for your second point that only happens if the start chasing the ball around. That's not what PSG did.

this is interesting. on one hand i dont see how piggy, javi, van buyten or dante can stop messi, but at the same time bayern wing play can destroy barca. very close

Don't see why Piggy and Dante shouldn't be able to stop him. Piggy did it together with Khedira before, I'm sure him and Javi could do so as well.

Because 21 year old Messi under Maradona's management with Argentina is the same beast as the current Messi with Barcelona. Laughing

This. MEssi alone won't make it . If he is double-marked then it's up to the wingers to take advantage of the space they'll have and help messi

Piggy-Martinez isn't enough to contain Messi. I imagine Heynckes will push Piggy further forward and play Martinez-Gustavo in the middle.

Piggy at #10, Müller RM and Robben on the bench?
Would be an awesome lineup.

I think playing at home you can risk going out with Robben and Ribery on each side. Away, playing Muller and a double pivot of Luiz-Javi might be safer but at the end of the day, you might as well want to attack this barca, playing end to end stuff works against them.

I always thought you should just beat them at their own game. Much less risky than sitting back like a bunch of scrubs and hoping for sheer luck.

yeah that's the way, they dont like to be pushed back in their own 30 meters, they cant counter, so it's not even that great of a risk. THey like it when you sit deep and they take their time to pick you apart. Bayern are going to attack, i just hope they dont choke

This is the game I was hoping for in the semis.

Both teams like to play possession, so it'll be interesting to see how they manage to do it against each other. I guess Barca will have the majority, sincw Bayern vs Arsenal/Juventus at times were happy to sit back and slightly press. I think Bayern's defending will be similar to AC Milan's, where they'll stop Barca from creating chances.

That's because he insists on playing injured - therefore never regaining fitness back. I would bench him til the 23rd.

If Messi plays Barcelona has a chance if not lmao they are doomed they can't make a chance without Messi.

If there is English ref Barca players are going to get killed, if there is italian or someone else it will be a good game.

Great tie nonetheless
