Monaco and legal battle with the French league
The professional football league (LFP) has decided that every team who plays in the French Ligue 1 or 2 should now have its headquarters in France, and this is not the case of Monaco.
The move is done because the others clubs judge unfair that Monaco can play in the ligue 1 with so much fiscal advantages compared to the others clubs.
Monaco will engage a legal battle against the decision, arguing that for setting headquarters in France, they would have to dissolve their current organization and that all the players contracts would then be void.

Would Serie A accept a club who has zero fiscality, who pays no taes and where players aren't paying taxes as well? That's a huge adventage.

LFP is absolutely right on this. Why should Monaco get such a huge competitive advantage?

Not to mention a russian oligarch owner
But I'm sure some league will take them. They're a club on the rise.

It's cleary helped them out thus far...oh wait. They haven't won Ligue 1 since 2000 and they were in Ligue 2 last year, sure they've gotten to a few domestic cup finals recently and they got the a CL final but that was due to Carlos Queiroz's stupidity rather than any huge advantage that they had.

LOL Monaco is paradise for millionaires/billionaires. They could easiy attract the best players in the world with their no tax policies. I don't think any league would accept a team having this kind of advantage.

Then why haven't they done it before? Their best player when they got to the CL final wasn't even theirs (Morientes was on loan from Madrid) and their best player now is probably Lucas Ocampos who's just a kid or Ibrahima Toure.

Re: Monaco and legal battle with the French league
Yet in its 80 year history in France's league it has only become a problem after they were acquired by a Russian oligarch?
I don't really buy into the competitive advantage argument. "Why should PSG have the competitive advantage of having an endless budget? That's no fair, they should only use money internally generated. We should have transfer caps and salary caps to put everyone in more equal standing." The other 19 clubs could easily argue. And AS Monaco is right, they can't move to France without becoming a new society hence ruling all current contracts void.

Re: Monaco and legal battle with the French league
LOL at French people complaining.
This wasn't a problem until they got an owner who will supply them with cash to get back on top. All I see is butthurt and PSG most likely leading the way here so they can protect their dominance in the league. Nothing should change because it was ok since the beginning. In their do called advantage they have managed to win only 7 league titles since 1924. Ya that advantage, Ligue 1 :butthurt!
