Lippi not offended by Buffon 'snub'
Marcello Lippi has no problem with being ranked behind Antonio Conte when it comes to men who have trained Gigi Buffon.
Lippi has guided Buffon to Scudetto and World Cup glory for club and country, but the ‘keeper yesterday said that Conte was probably the best Coach he’s ever worked with.
“Buffon is a person so beautiful, cheerful, clean and serious, that if he said that then it is because he thinks it,” Lippi told TMW.
“It doesn’t give me any negative thoughts. It’s a good thing because it is a sincere consideration, an honest opinion.”
Conte led Juventus to the Scudetto in his first season and the club, current League leaders again, are also in the last eight of the Champions League this term.
His success has led to speculation that he could be tempted to move abroad to join one of Europe’s giants.
“I think it’s right to stay in Italy for as long as possible,” the Guangzhou Evergrande tactician continued.
“He’s at the beginning of his career, while I have decided to come to China at the end of mine. Life is totally different here, not only for Italians but all Europeans.”
