Interesting stat. There have been 19 WCs, 9 of them have been won by these two teams, almost half of them.

Fred is a damn good striker, liked him at Lyon and he shouldn't be taken lightly by teams.

Re: Brazil vs Italy
His goal vs England was proof enough to me he still got game. Excellent finish.
I did question what he might of lost since his heyday, but he can clearly still finish.

i liked him in his Lyon's days but i thought he was much older . like 28-29 when he was playing for OL so when i've seen him coming back in the NT i was impressed ...... but he is 29 NOW

If I was a good but not top club I'd try and coax Fred out of Brazil.

Because he is.... he use to be good but that was like 7 years ago.
He's probably the worst striker out of any starting CF for any major nation in world football.
The fact you are calling up Diego Costa tells its own story.

Harsh Mole. He knows his way to the back of the net. He might technically be meh but he's a decent finisher.

Harsh, but probably true. We've struggled to find a proper CF for a while now.

Fred is not shit and I will bump this thread later on this year when he proves so.not saying he is amazing but he can handle the job and he has proved it in copa america and friendliesGreat Leader Sprucenuce wrote:Ganso wrote:People think that Fred is some type of shit striker for some reason...

Re: Brazil vs Italy
I don't think Mole's point about being the worst CF out of major nations is harsh, the forwards for major nations are generally in the top bracket or two in the world anyway.
Italy: Balotelli, Cassano, Di Natale etc etc
Germany: Klose, Gomez etc
Argentina: Messi (If they play him there) Higgy and a bunch of other attackers
England: Roo
France: Benzema, Giroud
spain don't really count, they tend not to use their CF's.
But I wouldn't say not being up there with that mob makes Fred rubbish. He's probably Europa league standard and would fit in with a top 6-7 club in a big league.

Re: Brazil vs Italy
Diego Costa is scoring goals but so is Michu.... doesn't mean he's international class though.
Diego Costa isn't any more than average IMO who is going through a hot streak in a system designed for poachers.
He wouldn't be the first player who got hyped through scoring goals when no one had a clue who he is and then went back to his usual level and won't be the last either.
You have to be a very special team to carry dross as CF's and Brazil are not that special.... yet.
Sure Fred and Diego Costa might score a goal here and there in friendlies but when it comes down to it in major tournaments they will fall embarrassingly short.

Re: Brazil vs Italy
There is a big difference between not being international class and being shit, which is what you are calling both fred and diego costa.Diego Costa got called up once and he isnt even going to start. We will obviously have Damiao and Pato on the squad once everyone is fit.
"Sure Fred and Diego Costa might score a goal here and there in friendlies but when it comes down to it in major tournaments they will fall embarrassingly short."
Well, we will see about that.Fred showed the exact opposite of what you said so far

Re: Brazil vs Italy
Fred is an average striker. I'd be surprised if he made waves, but like Hanson.said, he Wont start over.damiao or pato.
This game is winnable for Italy. Wanna see neymar up against barza. I'm also.excited.to see Brazil's midfield play together.
