Re: Real Madrid vs Galatasaray
Higuain should probably start as he didn't play against Bolivia which is where all exhaustions have come from imo
DiMaria could do with a rest tho, he looked alittle out of sync against Zaragoza due to the very demanding game against bolivia but having him benched could prove costly
I think we should start our tried and tested line up and make early subs. DiMaria should never have played against Zaragoza grr. But then again these guys are professionals they should be able to handle two games in three days we managed it last year. no reason why we won't this year

The entire team was exhausted against Bayern last year, even Ronaldo.

Re: Real Madrid vs Galatasaray
but we went out on penalties and could have avoided that hadn't Cacktrao gone all berserk in the last seconds of the first tie
too many times this season players rest and then turn in a bad performance next. Last season it was top performances all games apart from the useless Kaka of course. Give me players playing werk in week out like last season over this any day. Alonso is the only one who takes advantage of that rest

Re: Real Madrid vs Galatasaray
Would be shocked if we came out with anything other than:
Diego
Arbeloa-Varane-Ramos-Coentrao
--------Xabi----Khedira--------
Di Maria--------Ozil----------CR
-------------Pipita-------------
The only possible changes could be Marcelo for Coentrao and Pepe for Varane, if the latter two have fitness issues or niggles. I reckon Benzema can't start a CL QF in the form he is in. Modric has played 90 mins in both Croatia matches and 90 for Zaragoza which means he'll be coming off the bench.
As for the outcome, this one should be fairly comfortable. Looking at Gala's team I just can't see how they can hold us at bay (or even at just 2 goals), not with those full backs - if you can even say Riera is a full back. They got all their weapons in the attack, but let's face it, if Drogba and Sneijder were still as good as they used to be, they'd be playing somewhere else. Not scared at all.
Still, due to our leaky defence I'd say we'll win 4-1 this leg and I'll go for another win come next week. Like Zealous said, when our team faced big challenges, they always got the correct result and I can't see why tonight should be any different.

Re: Real Madrid vs Galatasaray
Coentrao's done well recently, so I think he should start. Marcelo hasn't played much. Varane's our best defender so he should definitely start. We just need to make sure we don't concede an away goal and we score as many goals as we can going into the 2nd leg.

Re: Real Madrid vs Galatasaray
Losing Varane sucks.
We should handle it regardless, but Yilmaz and Drogba will have their chances. At the same time, given the structure of this team, I'm loving that we're playing the 2nd legs away. It's almost a a free pass, because the attack has more leverage when we're trying to dig ourselves out a whole.
That, believe it or not was a problem last year, we approach first leg away games very rigidly and it's difficult for the team to keep together without flowing...and that translates to losses and poor results. Then the attack is asked to dig us out of that whole, and playing second leg games away gives them much more opportunities to do it.

Re: Real Madrid vs Galatasaray
Good luck with that bro
Anyway Varane is fit, he had a little niggle after returning from national team duty but he was rested against Zaragoza and he should be 100% now.
I actually agree about us playing the second leg away being better for us. We're a better team when we try and go for the win, not contain and play for a certain result. Playing the second leg at home makes that difficult because we are too afraid of conceding away goals like with Bayern last year. When we play away in the second leg it's not as complicated because we hold the away goal advantage and our attack can score at least two goals against any team in the world on their day.

Predicted Galatasaray line-up: Muslera; Eboué, Dany, Semih, Riera; Hamit, Selcuk, Melo, Sneijder; Burak Yilmaz & Drogba
Pretty offensive imo

are you kidding me? camp nou 98,000 fans have been unable to hinder our successes on their own ground repeatedly, and a small gala stadium fans will?
OT: what is our starting line up?

Re: Real Madrid vs Galatasaray
Amazingly, Arbeloa is replaced by Essien and Benz does start over Pipita. The first one is a shocker, though.
Diego López; Essien, Varane, Sergio Ramos, Coentrao; Xabi Alonso, Khedira; Di María, Özil, Cristiano; Benzema

I'm not surprised, Essien is a better attacking outlet. Arbeloa is better at defending but Essien actually has some good crosses, and offers more pace.

Good first half.
We just need to stop letting them have the ball in our own half.

Ramos is so rigid in the 16 yard box. Never safe with him covering a man.
