According to Diario Marca,Cadena Ser, Cope and Radio Marca, Real Madrid have signed Diego López on a permanent transfer from Sevilla till the end of the 2016/2017 season. He is a former Castilla & Real Madrid C player and won la Liga with Real Madrid in 2006-2007. He left Villarreal for Sevilla after they were relegated but has since seen limited time.

According to OPta 1.63 – Diego López has made fewer saves per game (min. five games) than any other goalkeeper in La Liga this season. Substitute

Some other reports suggest the deal is a permanent transfer worth 4 million euros.

I think it's best if we sign him on loan. After Casillas returns, I'm sure he'll want regular football.

He was already second choice at Sevilla and Adan is leaving at the end of the season, I'm sure the bench of Real Madrid is much warmer than the bench of Sevilla.

I think he was a starter at Sevilla, then Palop took his place, so he decided to leave.

I love how the club now does its transfers, quick and free of media speculations. Real Madrid TV have reported the signing it's now official, it'll be on the club page soon.

Diego Lopez is a top Goalie

Fabio Capello and a number of coaches, who trained Madrid, rated him higher than Casillas

Great signing guys, this guy is a great Goal Keeper and he's much better in the air than Casillas so maybe when Casillas is back he could be used in certain games were dominating your area and coming for crosses is more important than been a great shot stopper?

Do you think he could even bench Casillas in the long run?

no chance he benches iker in the long run. lopez is a big jump up from adan imo, but he is lightyears away from iker in terms of talent.

it depends worms. I mean mou has been fed up with iker as we saw when he wss benched for two straight games

lopez is good in the air and he could teach iker one thing or two about that. thats the only thing iker lacks atm

I feel much more confident now. lopez was always good against us and I wouldnt be surprised if he was great FOR us now. he loves the club so he will do his utmost to help us win trophies. he only has one and that with us as well

but what will happen when iker comes back? you cant have two goalies on yhe bench. poor adan

I am sure we will. he has been training with sevilla so he doesntneed time out to train. I guess we wil find out when mou picks the team tonight

@cyborg, courtois has been on the end of quite a few screamers and I consider him the best talent in age range

He'll definitely be on the bench tomorrow but he may not play in the Copa Del Rey since he's already played in the competition for Sevilla this season, in the that league matches he'll most likely rotate with Adan, but may start the Champions League fixtures against Manchester United if he puts in better performances than Adan.

I'm not sure of that rule, that's why I used the word "may", further clarification may come later. I do know for a fact that in England he'd have been ineligible to play in a domestic cup competition if he had already feature for another club.

Fantastic, made a few error over the weekend but atoned it with a near perfect performance tonight, a shame he couldn't get a clean sheet.

very true.
Arbeloa fell asleep while marking alba and forced Ramos to cover it.
Could have done better but none the less he made some key decisions for us.

He's been pretty much solid since he's arrived.

Can he take Casillas' spot? hmm

Diego is a great keeper, but Casillas is an icon. He is Madrid.
... BUT let's say when Casillas recovers as long as Mourinho is coach I doubt he will start Casillas right away.
It will take something on Diego's part to give that spot right back to Iker.
