Re: Pick a team that could beat the FIFA XI In A One-off Match
Cech - Best keeper in the World along with Gigi
Lahm - Complete footballer, offers balance with Ramires
Silva - Has the pace to deal with Messi and Ronaldo and can distribute from the back
Ivanovic - Would manhandle Falcao on crosses and nick a goal on the other end
Cole - Eats Cristiano's for breakfast. Will clear off line
De Rossi - Defense
Vidal - More defense
Yaya - Counter Attack brah
Bale - Defense, counter attack, crossing for striker
Ramires - Defense, counter attack, balance
Drogba - Big game duh, who else?
Come at me.

Inter and Chelsea beat Barca. Common nominator ?
- No-nonsense defense. none of this attacking fullback crap
- 2 strong defensive midfielders who stuck to defending
- a big CF to hoof the ball to
- 2 fast runners to support the centre forward (Ramires, Eto'o)
do people remember Mata was easily Chelsea's worst player against Barca ? you don't play Matas and Silvas of this world against Barca....you go the exact opposite approach
You never know dude, im not trying to tiki taka anyone just threw 2 cents at the lineup. No need to go berserk on me

several reasons:
Cech is a proven and ultimate big game player
Buffon has won a World Cup, biggest game in the world. Buffon is 6'3".

Bale defence? Gil, what you on about? He consistently strolls about the pitch. That aside its a very good team though, as good as it gets for me on here. Depends what Drogba has left, I would assume more than enough.

Dortmund/Germany style with a tighter defense and obviously a more clinical finisher upfront.
Looking at FIFA X1's lineup ,placed Chiellini as LB for obvious reasons.
EDIT:Replaced Pisczek with Licht.Forgot Marcelo is there in FIFA's X1

Should hold out against the Spanish trio especially if Alonso is a lone DM and Messi going walkabouts... Attack needs to be precise... Got to use the space Marcelo/Alves leaves behind when in attack... Quick counter attacking targeting Marcelos end especially for the fact that Marcelo cannot defend and will find it hard to deal with Surarez...

Re: Pick a team that could beat the FIFA XI In A One-off Match
My team, I would go for a 4141 in defence and a lobsided 4411 in attack. High pressing early, but get behind the ball eventually looking to break down from Marcelo's flank. Someone who can get in between the lines and take advantage of the lack of mobility vs Alonso.
When behind the ball on defence after the press the entire midfield 4 will all protect the defence, leave Marcelo and Dani Alves in possession. Cristiano and Falcao are dangerous in the air, but I would rather that risk than Messi through the middle.
-------------------------------Cech-----------------------------
-----------Zanetti------Puyol---------Thiago Silva--------Cole------
----------------------Vidal------Busquets--------Di Maria--------
-------Lavezzi------------------Yaya---------------------------
-------------------------------Suarez--------------------------
Movements of the Lavezzi, Suarez and Yaya is crucial.
In defence, Lavezzi goes drops back to the right, Yaya drops back into the midfield allowing Busquets to act as a spare man.

Licht------Hummels---------Chiellini-------------Cole
--------------Vidal-------Pirlo---------DDR--------------
------Christian Bale--------------------------Gareth Bale----
--------------------------Bane-------------------------------
The Keeper and back 4 are solid and good with the ball, Vidal and DDR can do some serious ball winning for Pirlo who can then spread the ball wide to one of the Bales who have good chemistry together. Then they can get the ball to Bane who will hold the ball up using his strength and agility. He can allow the two Bales to come forward and get in behind the extremely attacking full-back combination of the FIFPro XI.
We have a WINNER.

Put Cech in goal to nullify Messi. That by itself increases the teams chances of winning.

Cech in goals everyday of the week tbh, Buffon never really impressed me in the few games I have watched Juventus but that's my opinion..

Re: Pick a team that could beat the FIFA XI In A One-off Match
My team isn't an all stars, i took the question seriously. Considering the fifpro XI is basically the Spain NT with Ronaldo, Falcao and Marcelo, i'm assuming they're going to put a big emphasis on possession and attacking football. I firmly believe you either have one of these two when you beat Barcelona/Spain:
1. You have a highly organized scrappy team that defends deep and looks to the counter to score one off goals.
2. You have an extremely talented team that is in its absolute peak both individually and as a team.
The second is much harder to do, especially in a theoretical one off team/match. So i went with the first philosophy, emphasizing both form, pace and defensive capabilities.
Behold:
-----------------Cech------------------
Carvajal--Rannochia--Chiellini--Vertoghen
----------------Capoue-----------------
Muller------Matuidi--Fellaini--------Ribery
--------------Ibrahimovic----------------
Coach: Mourinho
I tried to keep creativity at a minimum since i believe it very rarely comes into play in one of these games. Regardless of what you think of the individual ability of these players, this is arguably one of the best combinations between form, function and physique.

Re: Pick a team that could beat the FIFA XI In A One-off Match
Not a single team out there which could handle Messi, Ronaldo and Falcao upfront, supported by Xaviesta and Alves + Marcelo providing width. Every team you put together would lose by 5 goals quite comfortably. Even parking the bus Chelsea style and hoping for a miracle wouldn't help because Falcao and Ronaldo are physical, good in the air and have a mean long range shot in them. They won't try to pass it around and walk it into the net.

Re: Pick a team that could beat the FIFA XI In A One-off Match
The Fifa world XI has a shit defense, so anything that will build enough pressure has a decent chance.
----------------- Neuer
Lahm - Hummels - Silva - Chiellini
-------------- Vidal
----- Pirlo - Schweinsteiger
Müller ------- Reus ---- Ribéry
Could also drop one of the CMs/DMs for Kroos/Götze at CAM and play 4-2-3-1, the idea is the same either way: press like Dortmund, and run at that gimped world XI defense. Should be very possible to outscore that team.
