You truly must be blind if you believe there is no rivalry between the two, if you actually watch the matches you see they avoid each other in the end of the game to no even shake each others hands, the only times they do is when they are forced to in the beginning of the match.
Ronaldo started saying stuff like this ever since fans around the world chant Messi's name when Ronaldo played and clearly he got so butthurt about it ever since he has tried to make an illusion that he doesn't care which is fine and understandable, as-well why would any person admit to having a rivalry to someone who constantly keeps beating him.. It'd be stupid.

Rivalry is what makes them better players, more incentive to play at a higher level, I think it's one of the reasons Ronaldo comes stronger but don't think it really affects Messi considering he has been winning too much lately and is only really being compared to legends now and not so much Ronaldo.
If Ronaldo leaves to another league I think it will be the end of his peak, and will go downhill as he wont have the same individual competition.

How about the EPL?

Ronaldo would be top in EPL but again with no competition individually, club level sure he will be on his toes but should he go back it'd probably be to Manchester United and who else would be his rival.. Aguero? lol no match.

Anyway back on topic, the winner was clear once we saw the past winners video and it included CR in it but not Messi at first I thought why the hell didn't they show a three time winner but then it all became clear
