Castrol Rankings are by far the worst rankings ever in football. No wonder goal.com is such a joke website with partners such as Castrol.

Isn't that based on points?
Which means it isn't just the past months top defenders?

Castrol rankings are absolutely atrocious, so new surprise here.
I can understand why Bonnuci is in there given his Sweeper role has allowed his to gain stats on his excellent passing and plays. Bonnuci also is one in his position and tendencies to be central against the oppositions attacks resulting in higher accrued percentage of tackles, interceptions and other defending stats.

When he's not being impetuous and getting unnecessary cards, I do tend to agree with you.

Knowing the rather questionable algorithms, arithmetic and logic of the Castrol rankings I wouldn't be surprised if he garnered major points through his bad-ass burglary stint. I mean he did defend his family.

Then Sulley Muntari should be feeling pretty deceived by now. Knocked a dude out when they tried to rob him....like a bawss.

Its just based on form based on stats. Sirigu must stop more shots, but thats just because his team is less dominant in matches then Juventus, Buffon isn't getting that many points because he's been needed less.
And can anyone tell me why Castrol rankings are a joke? I'm not sure wether to say they're good or bad, but thats just only because other sites like Whoscored get very different results. Its hard to know when we don't know their particular scoring system.

Really? Are they available somewhere? Can you share?

Muntari garners points through other factors in the Castrol Rankings.
-Having the audacity to shoot from any angle from over 50 yards playing as a Defensive Midfielder
-Playing for Inter and Milan much to the utter bemusement of the footballing world on how he achieved such a feat.
-Being the sole proprietor of this simply epic picture.

Re: Castrol's best CB's
Don't hate on Castrol, they never pretend to be anything else than what they are: a statistics aggregator, that's why they rated Gomez as the 2nd best player in the world last season.
It's like the FIFA rankings: no reason in getting angry about it, it's pure statistics, you can disagree, but they don't tell you who's the best, they tell you who got the best stats, and that's not up for debate.
If players like Evans are in there, it's for number of successful tackles, they don't judge importance of tackles or matches or anything.
For what it is, Castrol is an interesting resource. Nothing more, but also nothing less.

Re: Castrol's best CB's
Honestly who would you guys put in that list? I can't think of any CB other than thiago silva that i would call a top CB nowadays.
The list looks like its in order but not from 1-5 and more like 8-12 aside from Bonnuci he should rightfully be higher up IMO.
