Premier League vs Bundesliga - War of Coefficients
Bundes were only 2 points behind before today's draw and after seeing the draw, it wouldn't shock me at all if they surpassed us by end of even this term . Look at their draws
Bundesliga:
Bayern vs Arsenal (Bayern favourites)
Schalke vs Galatasaray (Schalke are chokers, but favourites nonetheless)
Dortmund vs Shakhtar (BVB favourites)
Stuttgart vs Genk (Easiest seeded teams Stuttgart could have got)
Hannover vs Anji (Having seen Anji, I reckon Hannover would turn them over)
Leverkusen vs Benfica (50/50 depending if Hyypia field strongest team, if yes could go either way)
BMG vs Lazio (BMG will go all out for this, whereas Lazio may prioritise league if they are still in hunt for CL places by then)
PL:
United vs Real Madrid (50/50, it's a European derby and form goes out of the window)
Arsenal vs Bayern (Arsenal underdogs)
Liverpool vs Zenit (50/50, playing in Russia in winter won't be easy, but thankfully they have that shit c*nt Hulk which acts as a negative player)
Spurs vs Lyon (Again, 50/50)
Newcastle vs Metalist (Newcastle could be in relegation battle and throw it away. Not to mention Metalist' racist fans and terrible atmosphere and they are usually good in EL)
Chelsea vs Sparta Prague (well, this one Chelsea are favourites)
NOT A SINGLE CLEAR-CUT FAVOURITE for the English teams, other than Chelsea , whereas all the German go in as favourites with exception of Leverkusen

Depending on how seriously Pool take Europa, I'd have them as favourites against Zenit

^ Well, We have an alleged racist, 2 black first teamers, reported to be targeting more black players in Jan, a gay player, and a player who thinks gays are retarded.
It will be a conflicting equation for Zenit fans about who to boo and who to cheer on

Liverpool should field a completely gay and black squad.

Chelsea will pad co-efficient points for you as they have a couple of easy draws on their way unless until they bump into Atletico at some stage of the competition. But that may not be enough i reckon.
That being said Bundesliga teams have made choking a habit in recent years and you may have to rely on that if you dont want Bundesliga to surpass the Premier League by this year itself cuz atleast on paper with the kind of draws their teams have been given ,along with that one team is touted as favorites for the Champions League whereas the other is destined to go far in the competition, you would really want to fancy them to climb above the Premier League this year in the co-efficient ladder.

What would it take for the fourth place team to take the third spot?

Don't worry guys.
Tottenham the Pride of London will carry the EPL on another fun European adventure, yet again.

Well,I don't agree with the co-efficient system, but German football is right up there with La Liga,Serie A and EPL.
Truth be told, its just marketing(from the other 3 and a lack of from the Bundesliga) that convinces the world that its not

yea, this thread was made during the Round of 32 of Europa. In Europa League there's still 3 EPL teams left in the round of 16.
Spurs vs Inter
Newcastle vs Anzhi
Chelsea vs FC Steaua București
In UCL there's going to be zero left going forward after the round of 16
La Liga is doing worse imo. Looks like only 1 team (Real Madrid) will advance from the round of 16 in UCL. in Europa League they also only had one team qualify for the round of 16 (Levante vs Rubin Kazan). Only bright spot was all 4 La Liga teams getting out of the groups of UCL

Well, people still complaining that you get coefficient points also via the EL?

Re: Premier League vs Bundesliga - War of Coefficients
I'm all for getting coefficient points via EL, however, it cannot possibly be weighed as much as CL. Last season Ateltico won EL and got more coefficient point for La Liga than Chelsea did for PL. I know that they won more games but UEFA have to take into account the level of difficulty of the competitions.

Well I think its more the fact that you can win a CL place based on EL performances and vise versa. There's also the double-standard issue as to why International performances and the NextGen Series don't get included.

Exactly.Based on their 2 EL wins in 2010 and 2012,they could end up being a TOP SEED for next year's CL,which is ridiculous. They haven't been in the CL since 2009 and get KO'd in the group stages

Re: Premier League vs Bundesliga - War of Coefficients
Well, if you look at the teams in the EL nowadays, I don't think you can claim it is so easy to go through there in the first place. And for leagues with barely an (unseeded) CL quali place, it would be near to impossible to proceed point-wise if the EL counts less. IMO the system is good as it is.
And currently no one can nag around that the BL gets their coefficient points due to some good EL run
Re Atletico:
As for the seeding in the CL groups - if you are good enough, you win the group even as pot 4 team ^^

Re Atletico:
It is not that easy to win the EL. And if they get ko'd in the CL group stage, they will lose their points again, so there is not that big a problem IMO.Stormer77 wrote:Exactly.Based on their 2 EL wins in 2010 and 2012,they could end up being a TOP SEED for next year's CL,which is ridiculous. They haven't been in the CL since 2009 and get KO'd in the group stages

Re: Premier League vs Bundesliga - War of Coefficients
BL are within two points of PL in the co-efficients table.
PL on 82.605 whereas BL on 80.212.
Additionally atleast two PL teams are as good as out in the CL along with a third maybe and BL likewise have two teams almost certain to go through to the next round.
In the EL,Frankfurt the only remaining German team hold the advantage of going through to the next round.
The ties concerning Spurs and Swansea on the other hand hangs in the balance with their respective opponents holding more of the advantage.
Could this be the year the BL surpasses the PL in the co-efficient rankings

Dunno. It is likely that Porto will defeat Frankfurt today, while neither Schalke nor Leverkusen are likely to get a single point from their return legs
