So what? It's not like Madrid use their midfield, except when Modric tries, that area of the field is left completely empty, and the ball is usually hoofed to one of the wingers, till it falls to Ozil who tries to orchestrate a proper buildup to an attack. Which baffles me really, considering Madrid is a Spanish team and all.

Well said Great Leader.Carrick and Cleverley are in a great partnership this year and the wings are doing very well.Offensively speaking, Manchester United is one of the best in europe this season, they always were in the top.The problems come from David De Gea who lacks experience and is not good enough at communicating with defenders.We also didn't have a settled CB partnership last 2 years because of frequently injuries.Rafael is doing good now, he improved his man marking abilities and he has been for sure the best Right Back in EPL this season.Rio has his old back and knee problems so it's hard for him to keep the pace with Real Madrid's counter-attacks, but Evans with Vidic in form should be an interesting CB partnership.Smalling and Jones are too unexperienced to have a chance against Real Madrid.Evra have been in a great form recently, especially when it comes about offensive tasks.

The point is that Manchester United with Nani, Valencia and Young can cause big problems to the opposite defensive with the help of Rafael & Evra who seem to have an important word in the attacks of MUTD.Best attacking in Europe based on wings for more than a decade.But also, there are big problems in defence and Real Madrid are maybe the best counter-attacking team in the world.

A stereotype that will unfortunately stick for a while unfortunately. people need to take the time and watch just how well Cleverley and Carrick have been playing together recently. Both were solid v City weeks ago.

Our mf only suffers when either giggs or scholes starts this season.

You do need some depth in midfield though....
