Marco Reus - Borussia Dortmund #11
How highly do you rate Marco Reus?
Does he have big potential? Which player does he play most similarly like?
Can he be a future star?
Please provide constructive analysis, not unhelpful/biased posts.

There are always youth coaches who don't realise they have a talent at their hands... Lewis Holtby was released from the Mönchengladbach Academy as "he didn't have the physical basis", so the Dortmund guy was not alone in his oversightsB-Mac MUFC wrote:higher then Mount Everest, the dortmund youth coach who told him he has no future when he was a kid should of been fired lol

He is going to be a superstar in a couple of seasons. WC 2014 should cement him as a world class player. But let's wait and see.

If not already will be the best German player in 1-2 seasons. Only players that might challenge that are Ozil and Gotze.

Won't be better than Ozil and Gotze. Right behind them IMO. Ozil is probably the most talented player Germany ever had.

i donno about you guys but to me it seems, he has a better potential than Gotze, and is not overhyped by media at all... like neymar either
also, Do you guys think his playing style is kind of like 2004 Cristiano ronaldo? very quick, agile, winger / SS? or maybe i am mistaken.

You dont have to be biased 24/7 even if you bleed for your club.
Why bring up Ozil here ffs??
Im not impressed with Ozil this season, hes under performing and imagine if he continues to fall deeper.
Reus is a totally different player and they will never stand on each other's way.
I rate him higher than Müller.

Better passer and not quite as good a finisher as 2004 CR, but comparable.
His direct style is awesome, TBH if he hadn't been at BMG until last season, he might already be considered a superstar. Great scoring instincts, and enough technique to also function as a good midfielder. Pretty complete forward.

You're taking the piss right? He's a sharp passer but his ability to beat a man and hold the ball neeed a lot of work to be a top class(zidane, riquelme) midfielder. Sometimes it seems like most madridistas started watching football in 2009...

Re: Marco Reus - Borussia Dortmund #11
Actually his ability to hold the ball is prime sauce, but I agree with not being the best at beating defenders in 1on1 situations (talking of Özil) - either way, I wouldn't call anyone of the current crop THE BEST GERMAN EVAR until they're a bit older.
Özil the most talented player ever? Let's wait until he surpasses Netzer and Overrat as playmakers first, no?
And let's not forget we still have the Kaiser to think of. No no, we're not Andorra, our legends don't get surpassed that easily.

He might be comparable to cristiano thanks to his directness and speed, but he is already more of a team player than cristiano will ever be .
He wasn't reputed to be that great a talent because Gladback were rock bottom when he started giving goat performances and nobody cares about relegation threatened sides unless it is Milan.
In terms of playing style he resembles me of Marin.

He's nowhere near 06-07 Cristiano. Ronaldo was the best player in the World back then or Top 2 at the very least.
Reus is a stud but he isn't at that level yet. 2nd best player in the BL after Ribery IMO and the 2nd best overall German footballer.

I haven't watched him much, but he strikes me like a similar player to Pedro or a poor man's Ronaldo.
I don't think he will be a superstar, but definitely a very good player.

Viva how do you feel about the ridiculous underrating of one Tomas Muller by what seems to be every Bayern and Germany fan on the forum?

Re: Marco Reus - Borussia Dortmund #11
definitely will be a superstar. avoided the spotlight for a while eventhough he constantly performed for gladbach and won many games on his own. the media's focus on özil/götze and the disappointing development of marin after gladbach were reasons for that.
he'll have an outstanding career as he brings so much to a team and many top sides could make great use of him. özil and götze are mostly providers whereas he is also a constant threat on goal. he can leave dortmund for 35 million after this season and i think in two years he'll play in la liga or EPL.

Same shit, different player. Müller looks a bit awkward in his movement, he's this strange in-between player somewhere between SS and AM, and his entire skillset absolutely doesn't look flashy.
People tend to underrate players like that. Even when Müller does somethign amazing, it usually looks pretty normal. This is a guy who scores chipped volleys, that he took with his weak foot.
But, you know, Gomez scores more goals, Ribéry is better in 1on1, Kroos is a playmaker... Robben scores those stunning long range shots - who wants to talk about Müller?
I would NEVER cut Müller from the squad. I'd start him for Germany and Bayern whenever he's fit.
He's a great teamplayer, a direct goal threat himself, and one of the few Germany and Bayern players who do not know fear.
Müller is, sadly, not really a leader. But he's absolutely fearless and motivates himself.

it's mostly because müller's strengths don't lie with his technique, shot, passing or pace. his instincts make him what he is and they are extraordinary, but they are less tangible than the skills in the mentioned areas of his competitors in germany. that's why people tend to hold the opinion that müller won't develop much further and that the others will surpass him in the near future once their positioning reaches his level.
it's kind of unfair but in his case ability and cleverness are regarded as two different things, with the latter being a "talent" that can be more easily learned over time.

Re: Marco Reus - Borussia Dortmund #11
f*cking madridistas bringing up madrid players in every thread, why are half the posts about Ozil ffs? best this, best that, f*ck off
ahem, on topic, this kid is a Baaaaaaaaaad Man (kudos to anyone who catches the reference ).
I dont quite think he is going to be a superstar, as that's even very hard to predict, but he is a stud. His aggressiveness is a joy to watch, he just goes at people. Need to improve his technique, and learn the game played at smaller pace, and he will get even better.

Re: Marco Reus - Borussia Dortmund #11
the only thing going against Reus is his age of 23, he wasted his couple of years in a smaller team before Dortmound,
If he was still 20-21 and Dortmound had kept him, now he would be in a better team even
I like his playing style, his passing, positioning, speed, agility is good
Don't know too much about his dribbling or skills though

lol, you know that not everyone becomes a star at age 20 right? he wouldnt be the player he is today if he hadnt gone through Gladbach. The experience he accumulated sharpening his skills and becoming a leader is invaluable. He wasnt "wasting" his time, he awas growing. Drogba became a star at age 26-27, i think he still got a pretty decent career...

word. with many youngsters gaining attention early on, the expectations are getting unrealistic.
