I've yet to see thiago play in a big game in top flight

So for now ill assume flopzildane and sahin are better

If 1/2 the thiago hype is real him and cesc will be better

I think cesc has peaked though, but maybe going to barca will be good for him

Ozil and Cesc are pretty much on par as for last season Ozil was the much better player of the two

Sahin is light years ahead of Thiago atm, but who knows what the future holds

Imo,

Ozil & Cesc are close now.. Overall, i would go with Cesc for sure BUT last season Ozil was better, especially that Cesc was injured most of the time..

Sahin vs Thiago might not be fair yet.. Thiago this season will be promoted to first team, so let's wait for next season to judge him.. for now, Sahin is a least proven in the bundesliga, while Thiago is just proven on youth level.. so Sahin is for sure the better player no doubt for now!!

fit Cesc > Ozil
Sahin> Thiago..

Barca's system will help Cesc & Thiago in the future! Especially if Guardiola stayed OR another coach like Luis Enrique was @ Barca by that time..

But If Cesc stays @ Arsenal for next season (hope so), Ozil & Sahin wil have an advantage on (Cesc & thiago) since they will start playing together maybe as starters from this season, so they have enough time to build chemistry ( which is the most important imo)!!

So Let's wait & See!!

Excellent post, and I agree with pretty much all of it.

Cesc and Ozil are two brilliant players, who, disregarding players like Iniesta, Xavi and Messi, would be the leaders in their positions right now. Fab had a pretty rubbish season last year, while Ozil was at times disappointing, but generally class. Neither is definitively better, so who knows who will be considered when their careers end.

Sahin and Thiago? You can't compare them, no point in saying Sahin is light years ahead either, because Thiago has been a youth player while Sahin is an established footballer. Thiago has 2-3 years ahead of him to establish himself and then we'll be able to say. Until then, not much point in making comparisons.

As said, we can't predict the future, so let's just see. As far as compatibility as duos I can see both being very compatible. Put a good defensive midfielder behind them (Busquets & ??) and they are very functional midfields. Not as domineering as Xavi & Iniesta, but both potentially have more goals in them.

Cesc has done a lot with Arsenal has not won trophies but has been their best player over the years. Ozil was the best player on the pitch against Barca in the two games he came off the bench.

Oezil has had one good season and you are comparing him to cesc? the guy that assisted the winner for the freaking WC? that's more than oezil has done in his whole flipping career, oezil has had a good season but cesc has been a top CM for yeas and you are comparing them? When Madrid gets a player theyu automatically become the best in the world, this comparison is disgraceful. Against Barca, he dissapeared.
