Marco Reus isn't injured. Mario Götze had to withdraw for the Revierderby due to muscular problems. (BTW, in Germany, the Dortmund and Schalke fans consider it more important to win the derby than the championship - just to underline the importance of tomorrow's match )

Well, in the Revierderby stats (140 matches as of today), Schalke currently still leads with 55 wins to Dortmund's 48 wins. ^^

Other than their proximity, there was no particular trigger for a rivalry which, if anything, has only intensified over the years for two sets of fans who basically like nothing more than to see the other fail.

Sounds like hard-core fans to me, kind of like Villa and Birmingham, the fans would just love to see the other fail

As a matter of fact, a hardcore Schalke fan would never even take the word "Dortmund" (aka "the forbidden town") in their mouth - they say "Lüdenscheid-Nord" instead, while die-hard Dortmund fans avoid saying "Schalke" by calling the club "Herne-West" (Lüdenscheid and Herne are towns next to Dortmund and Gelsenkirchen, respectively).

I love those kinds of fans, as long as they don't turn it into violence it makes the atmosphere even better and nice to witness

Well, most of them are peaceful. Unfortunately, there are always a handful of idiots who want to incite violence, but there should be sufficient police around to keep these in check.
