Re: The Official Metal Gear Solid 5 Thread
I won't spoil or anything, won't even mention ending details until both of you have finished it
but I'm currently sitting through the end credits, think I messed up, had important side ops to start but I thought they would take me to the end missions, because other important side ops have led to legit missions starting before
so I decided to do the single regular mission I had available first, turns out it was the final mission
hope I can still do those important side ops
make sure you do the side ops first always IMO

Re: The Official Metal Gear Solid 5 Thread
How does that work out? shouldn't it force you to do the side ops first in that case?
I always do side ops first anyways. That's why I am only on mission 12 after 5 days
But if it was the final mission, were you shocked, disappointed or was it a satisfying ending?
smh I missed out because i was admiring it so much.
Nah just couldn't sleep till like 9am

Re: The Official Metal Gear Solid 5 Thread
you can still play as usual after the 'final mission' I have a feeling these side ops will lead to a 'final showdown' if you know what I mean though, yeah the 'final mission' was alright, the pieces of the puzzle started to fall into place for me before it though so I wasn't that shocked.

Re: The Official Metal Gear Solid 5 Thread
think fans of the series will be satisfied if this is the final game though, seemingly ties everything together nicely (admittedly from the limited history and events I know of the series)

Re: The Official Metal Gear Solid 5 Thread
From what I've read, people are blowing it over proportion. The main gripes seems to come over side characters lack of closure rather than the main story itself.
Opinion seems to be divided.
I guess people were expecting way too much from the story. Atm I have no problem with it. At the point I am, story is going as well as it could be.

Just a Yes or No question.
Does it at least tell you why Big Boss turned into a villain?

Re: The Official Metal Gear Solid 5 Thread
that makes sense
remember that mission '51' that got cut? that you mentioned is partially on youtube
apparently that was a huge part of the game that tied up the side characters story and would have been in an entirely new area
seems so stupid to cut one mission from the game, especially the 'true intended ending of Kojima' think it was out of spite tbh, should have given him an extra few weeks/month to finish it

Re: The Official Metal Gear Solid 5 Thread
As much as i would like to blame Konami, Kojima was taking far far too long to finish the game. He is a perfectionist and wants to do every single thing 10/10. Which means he speant hundreds of hours on the right music, which he didn't even use in the end. Game went over-budget and konami had to release GZ to make up money
But it's actually not the first MGS game which had content cut. MGS1 had content removed, MGS2 had big stuff cut off which caused a lot of controversy back in the days.
Kojima wanted a completely different ending to MGS4 which didn't go through (THANK *bleep* for that because I would have destroyed my ps3 if it ended the way he wanted).
In oppose to that MGS5 actually is the first MGS to only cut one mission/scene. But reading from non spoiler sources. They cut off stuff which had impact on MGS1. That's why people are pissed off. But I don't see a big problem in that because this game is about Big Boss, and not side characters. It's his journey from PW to MGS1, not someone else's. That even includes his sons.
Kojima has never completed a game where he gives everyone 2+2=4.

Re: The Official Metal Gear Solid 5 Thread
current mission isn't even funny
come close to doing it a few times I think, everything can 1 shot you from 500 miles away with 100% accuracy, died like 30 times
I feel sick

Re: The Official Metal Gear Solid 5 Thread
now that I think about it more, that cut content decision is straight up ridiculous and ruins the entire second half of the game
the story in the first act is quality and feels like a legit ending
but the second half of the game all builds towards the mission that was obviously cut, so you're left with a sense of no resolution (although some of the missions in the second part are among the best moments in the game)
think that's why people are pissed off
overall IMO;
gameplay: 9.5/10. so much replayability, looking forward to MGO too
story: 8 (in the first half) 4.5 (second half)
the good thing is that all of the iconic characters throughout the series have their history tied up for fans via cassette's, I'm sure you will be at some of them

Re: The Official Metal Gear Solid 5 Thread
there are numerous times the credits roll in the game btw, I guess to signify the ending to each of the major plot lines (dunno if this is a normal thing in the series), I enjoyed them all..just disappointed that one was cut when it was the main focus of half of the game.
really, really enjoyed Quiet's story though. Fav character in the game.

If it follows MGS4, then it will end up being one of the most sold games (specially since it's on all platforms
minus wii U
