Liverpool vs Man City
Surprised no thread on this though.
Sahin will be presented to the crowd before game...I expect Anfield to be VERY VERY LOUD...If we start with high tempo and get a lucky break, I can see us winning. Going by the Bib theory, the team could be:
Reina
Johnson
Skrtel
Coates
Enrique
Allen
Lucas
Gerrard
Downing
Borini
Suarez

Re: Liverpool vs Man City
I'm very confident for this game. We've done well against them last season when they were at their best. Only difference is that we'll have Lucas back and the addition of Allen will definitely help us control the midfield. Borini is a step up from Kuyt as well. So in other words, we have improved while they are practically the same team (only without their best player Aguero).
We'll miss Agger definitely but hopefully Coates gets the nod ahead of Carra.
My lineup is exactly the same as Sepi's, the only change being Assaidi instead of Downing (with Sterling replacing him in the second half).
I fully expect a win, but if we don't get it, it won't be the end of the world. After all they are still the reigning champions.

Re: Liverpool vs Man City
Not sure how Borini will be more a step up on Kuyt for this game.
Dirk was always a big player and always did well against City.
He was key in getting us into the final of the CC.
Saying that, I'm positive we'll come out and win. More confident here than at WBA (though I thought it'll be a draw, and not a thrashing...) as we play horrid away. We play our own game at Anfield.
This is going to be the longest 90 minutes of City's season.
Also. I'm certain Mancini has never beaten us at Anfield. Can someone confirm this?

I can confirm this.....I have all of our season review DVD's since 2000, and I rewatched them last week. Mancini hasn't beaten us at Anfield.

We are a far improved squad. But saying that City are the same team is far far away from the truth. Everyone of the players are now EPL Champions & that itself creates a certain level of competence which is unbelievable . .
That said with our improved squad & the added point of Anfield & The Kop. . . This is our game! !

i hope the match goes well with you. If it turns the other way, i'm pretty sure you'll start to become desperate at the bootom of the table.
City is a tough team.

Re: Liverpool vs Man City
I honestly hope you thrash them.
A loss for city is good for us and 3 points for you is good too.
calling it now, Allen sets up Borini for the winner in a 1 0 win

City is a tough team.
Being desperate with just two matches gone would be a typical knee-jerk reaction which won't be fair to the team & the manager. Cause no matter what this team are champions!
But i do not expect to be disappointed today. Thrashing or not i look forward to a brilliant game of football. Like ynwa i quote BR. .

Re: Liverpool vs Man City
The big question is, imo, can our attack create enough chances (and can we take them). I can see us at least matching City in midfield, but if all our chance-creation rests on Suarez then I don't think we'll score enough to win this match.

Creation is not what worries me . . . its the finishing that does BIG TIME

Re: Liverpool vs Man City
The Reds team in full is: Reina, Kelly, Coates, Skrtel, Johnson, Lucas, Gerrard, Allen, Sterling, Borini, Suarez. Subs: Jones, Enrique, Carroll, Henderson, Carragher, Shelvey, Downing.
that defense is going to scare me

Re: Liverpool vs Man City
yeah same on my end, i can see why he isnt, hasnt played a game yet for us throwing him against city would be hard. Only player he can replace is downing, how embarrassing would it be if we had a 15-20mil player who was only a squad player

Sterling starting really excites me but haven't heard anything about lack of fitness of Assiadi so could have fit on the bench i guess. . anyway BR knows better

Re: Liverpool vs Man City
Sterling has looked up for this match, so far. He's been involved and not at all intimidated by the competition.
I'm a little disappointed to see Assaidi still in a suit for this game, but he hasn't been here long. I can understand him needing time to fit into the squad.

Re: Liverpool vs Man City
Looked really good out there, suarez with a great goal, great play all the way through. If it wasn't for one lapse of concentration from Skrtel we'd have 3 points. Rodgers' system looks to be taking nicely, and if this is what we can hope for in the final third when we're on our game this season, i'm very happy. all in all a good game.

Re: Liverpool vs Man City
Yes, we did throw away two points with a single pass. However, we still made a statement, and it was a very promising performance for Rodgers, LFC and the tactics he is trying to implement.mr-r34 wrote:FML throwing away 2 points there
Edit: Despite my disappointment at dropping the points, if you had asked me pre-match if I would've taken a 2-2 draw, I probably would've bitten your hand off.

Re: Liverpool vs Man City
Nothing to worry about. We played great against arguably the best team in the league. They didn't do anything to deserve that point, we just handed it to them on a platter. I'm not worried!!! Very entertaining match

A brilliant display of football. . .
4-0 to LFC!
Skrtel with a HATTRICK!
And Suarez with some MAGIC! !
But still just can't seem to get off from a horrible sad feeling
