Why are Uruguay 3rd? Also England shouldn't be that high.

Re: Fifa World Rankings
The Euro's alter the rankings significantly, since it means the European clubs play more than the South American clubs. The only reason Brazil are 11th is because they simply haven't played that many games.
It's all about accumulative points, and England have only lost one game out of their last nine (3-2 to the Netherlands), so it's not surprising we're high up on a rankings system that's based on results.
England don't do well at big tournaments, but when to comes to friendlies and qualifiers we actually do win more often than not. Ultimately, the points add up.

Re: Fifa World Rankings
Actually, I think people would understand these rankings better if they thought of them as an ordering of teams who have achieved the best results over a set period, and not as an ordering of the best teams. Just like how league tables work.

Re: Fifa World Rankings
Actually Brazil will probably go down even more when the World Cup qualifiers start and they only play friendlies while the other NTs play competitive matches. Before the WC2006, Germany also took quite a dive in the ranking.

More like what did we do to not be considered a top 10 team.we dont play qualifiers and have used the past 4 friendlies to train our olympic team.RealGunner wrote:what has brazil done to be in the top 10 ?
Im biased, but Croatia and Denmark are definitely not better than us.Our olympic team raped Denmark ffs

Don't think Brazil have ever been outside the top 10 since they began these rankings.
Shocking stuff on the face of it, but considering their lack of competitive activity between Copa America and now, it's not all that surprising.

This.
Not that we have done that much to warrant a top 10 spot though.

Re: Fifa World Rankings
Why is Italy ranked 7th? Coming into this tournament and the achievements from last WC, why should they deserve to be 7th? England at 4th?

Re: Fifa World Rankings
As Mole said, England haven't lost in 90 minutes in a long time now and the structure of international football makes it a results based business, particularly given the limited time spent together as a squad, the ability to beat superior teams is vitally important. Is it an inflated ranking? Yes, however it's not hard to see why they have it.

Agreed Uruguay deserve it. After a very long time they have actually upstaged both Brazil and Argentina to be the top team in South America. Let's see how long that can last.

Never before. I am not going to defend the rankings but this is probably the worst time in Brazilian football history since early 1990s or perhaps even before.
