Wow. Remember at the start of the season in the SuperCopa, these two blokes having an argument when Marcelo put in that challenge on Fabregas? Now, look at them...
Unbelievable.
Unbelievable.

Spain's amazing run is pretty much down to those two guys right there.

Can't forget the guy who has been a cornerstone of our team since he was 18.
Our defensive leader, Our Inspiration
- Spoiler:
- And the 15 or so other great players apart from Marchena and Arbeloa since 08.

LOl dream on, Spain's playing style is Barcelona's. Not Madrid's, not anyones. Cruyff is the godfather of this playong style whether you accept it or not. Without this playing style Psian would have won sod all.

Thank you. I thought he had become invisible in this discussion since he is so pale.
I have for long said that Spain's five best players in this extraordinarily glorious period are Casillas, Puyol, Xavi, Iniesta and Villa in whatever order.
Since Puyol and Villa didn't come this time and still we won the three greatest heroes of this Spanish era for me undoubdely are Casillas, Xavi and Iniesta. The latter two have been players of the tournaments in one Euro each and man of the match in several of the matches including Iniesta in the WC 2010 final. Casillas does not get the individual awards since he is a goalkeeper but he's been the life and soul of this team and his performance in the present tournament I think was nearly flawless.
Only after these three comes David Villa. As for the fifth position after his performance in Euro 2012 Sergio Ramos is now closely competing with Carles Puyol for that.
BTW do you all know any other player who has won man of the match in both a World Cup and a Euro final? I ask because Iniesta has done just that in case some may have forgotten. I think Zidane may have won in 1998 and 2000 but not sure. Also maybe in the 70s a German like Gerd Muller may have got it but unlikely. Anyway it's another outstanding achievement.

Zidane wasn't Man of the Match in Euro 2000 Final, Totti got that Award. As for Gerd Muller, he got MOM of 1974 WC Final, but in 1972 Euro there wasn't an award for MOM. So maybe Iniesta is the first player to be Man of the Match in both WC and Euro Finals?

Thanks matpol. I had similar thoughts. I think if Euro 1972 final had that award, Gunther Netzer would have probably got it. Anyway all this makes Iniesta's achievement INCREDIBLE.

Cruyff didn't invent anything, except maybe putting your foot in your mouth which he did countless times in his time as a footballer/coach.

Cruyff laid the foundation for your precious, overrated, Spanish team. He was and is a legend whether you like it or not.

Considering that his dutch team is still one of the best ever, and he's by no means a poor player, calling him a loser is hardly fair. And he's not arrogant by any stretch. It's not bragging if you can back it up.
He's not the most pleasant person, but he's light years more tolerable than Maradona, and his ideas are the basis for your success. I wouldn't be so harsh if I were you.

You aren't a fan of this Spanish team? Nationality has nothing to do with it. I love Brazil and I'm Egyptian...

Ah... Cruyff tends to offend people.
Still, you can't deny his accomplishments, especially considering Spain's success.
