Unlucky. Outclassed. Thank you Azzurri for making this a memorable tournament. You don't deserve a 4-0 scoreline. Italy doesn't deserve this.
But thank you for making us strong again. Thank you Italy for restoring the hunger and desire. We will be back. Unlucky and wounded but we will be back.

Whilst I was part of the anti spain brigade, that is what Spain are capable of when they play positively
however f the idea of them winning the next WC lol I hate it when the same team wins constantly

Re: Final: Spain vs Italy
Against a team like Spain you need a piece of luck but Italy had none of that unfortunately tonight. Spain were clinical while Italy had quite a few problems, especially their back-line which had been suspect throughout the tournament, and certainly playing with 10 men from the 58th minute didn't help them at all. They also looked more tired than Spain tonight, from the first whistle.
Spain deservedly won, the scoreline does injustice to Italy's tournament however.

Always said the guy is overrated. Inb4 "but he has PHD in economics"
If you play a CB like Chiellini who is meant to be a CB at LB, you're asking for trouble. Chiellini always performs best as a CB. It's idiotic to judge a player playing out of position.
And he's still far better than Pepe, if that's what the aim of your post was.

Re: Final: Spain vs Italy
I also want to say before the tournament I didn't believe in Italy at all. I thought they were once a strong national team but finished for quite a few years. I'm glad I was wrong. They played a good tournament and despite getting thrashed in the final, they can hold their heads high. Let's hope they can inject some talented players from their young ranks, because their squad is not one built for 2014 World Cup and frankly, is quite old - so is Spain's actually.

I'm all for Spain losing and all. But Spain old? I'm afraid they are more than young enough for dominate again in Brazil. In 2014 they will still have a team like this:
Castillas
Any RB Pique Ramos Alba
Iniesta Busquets Thiago
Silva Cesc/Adrian/Torres... Pedro
Even Xavi and Alonso could still be playing at a good enough level and they'll have players like Mata, Cazorla, Javi Martinez, and some youngsters from the currently european subs will surely become world class...

Indeed Free. Producing talent for Spain isn't a problem at all for them. They have some of the worlds most promising talents.

Re: Final: Spain vs Italy
Chiellini was playing the whole tournament with an injury...
Let's all judge an injured player playing out of position woooooo...
Let's wait until Messi has a hyper extended knee and is played as a CDM, he must be a bad player then

Spain.
Deserved victory, were definitely better than Italy tonight. Xavi/Iniesta for MOTM.

Congratulations to Spain, well deserved champions
For Italy, tough luck but I wouldn't call advancing to the final of a major tournament and then losing a bad result

Puyol and Villa were supposed to be part of the tournament if it wasn't for their injury. They won't be in Brazil, or you'd hope so. I'd say the same for Alonso and Xavi and Iniesta will be 30. The truth is, these are the players who made/make the difference for Spain and are the spine of the team. I don't think La Roja will be nearly as good without the aforementioned.

That sums it up really...
Xavi was great, better than Pirlo (only in this match ). If Prandelli set Italy up in a better way it would've been a closer game.

Re: Final: Spain vs Italy
Anyone else thinks Italy would have been better off playing 3-5-2 or is it just me?
Re: Final: Spain vs Italy
Prandelli made a noob move by making all his changes before the 60th minute, especially with the players he had on the pitch (being old and all).

Agree. Their mid outnumbered us and if we played like tht we could have had a chance.
Re: Final: Spain vs Italy
Throughout the tournament, Prandelli's substitutions have been far from great. It's just that it paid for the first time - They nearly did against Croatia.
