The Franchise wrote:Its hard to make an 11, I would prefer to do it when the entire tournament is over and its easier to look back on all the performances totally.
As well as Karagounis played, he could end up dropping out. Same for Sellasie perhaps. I also think the goalie issue isnt sorted out yet, the big games will sway them the most for me.
Fair points.

People putting Iniesta out of position just to let David Silva out even that they had similar effect in the tournament

Iniesta is better. Best AM after Ozil atm and best CM after Pirlo.
My formation could also be like this :

Even though Lahm has been playing LB I can't leave out Coentrao because h has been too damn good. So I will just put Lahm RB lol.

Underrated player..Defensively the best RB of the EURO imo.
Shut down Ribery easily ,wont be surprised if the same happens today against CR

That game is tomorow no?
In anay case Arbeloa is a good player and he's probably the most equipped defender on the Spanish squad to stop him but I don't think he will.

Definately Pirlo, Ozil, Ronaldo and Pepe are all definate players of the tournament so far. Khedria has been good as well. Lahm on the right though with Conentrao on the left.

Re: Name Your All Star Eleven For Euro 2012 So Far
I am going to go for the most revolutionary formation of Euro2012
Cesare Prandelli's 3-5-2 formation, honestly hats off to him, He made Italy into an enjoyable side with great attacking football
Casillas in goal, he was clearly the best, great game by Buffon yesterday but Casillas has been the most consistant
Pepe: Absolutely outstanding, contender for Player of the Tournament, superb for Portugal throughout, imposing, composed and un-Pepe in his control of his emotions, grabbed a vital goal against the Danes and only gave away 3 fouls in a tournament where he could be proud of himself
Leonardo Bonnuci: I honestly was thinking between Bonnuci and Hummels but yesterday's performance confirmed that Bonnuci deserves a spot. He was marked as a weak link before the start of the tournament but even after Chiellini's injury, he was imposing and a rock for a superb Italian defence.
Sergio Ramos: Took some time to adjust to his new partner who is more unlike Pepe, at Madrid, but when their partnership developed, Ramos came into his own and had a stranglehold on all his opponents. Dominant in the air and athletic, 2 characteristics that define him as a player has shone through in this tournament
Pilar: The new Wolfsburg signing was pure class in this tournament, absolutely a joy to watch. His efforts in the final 2 group games ensured they pass into the quarter finals and he could be proud of this tournament and the Bundesliga is now going to get a good look at what he really has to offer.
Xabi Alonso: The second least spectacular midfielder in Spain after Busquets but there is no one like him on the Spain squad, able to switch play with one cross field ball and this tournament he has chipped in with a couple of goals, a solid performance so far, for a solid tournament.
Pirlo: Player of the Year? eh, maybe. Player of the Tournament? Not a doubt. World class from a player who is said to be past his prime. He has been superb, laser pointed passes, some incredible performances, sublime turns, flicks and a free-kick goal. The 18-panel ball certainly agrees with him but that is not the only reason for his wonder tournament, he has looked like a player re-born in the mid-field role Prandelli has given him.
Coentrao: Great tournament from the beginning, great at covering ground and has taken the tournament by storm. Certainly will return to Real Madrid with a view to take Marcelo's place as starting Left Back.
Iniesta: just class.... its been his tournament, he has been unstoppable at times and defenders have been crowding around him. Has not managed a goal yet.... but he is made for the big games.
Cristiano Ronaldo: He may divide people on opinion but there is no doubt his Portugal team would not be in the same place without his goals and his performances. He has been superb this tournament and has silenced those who proclaim that he does not perform for his country.
Michael Krohn-Dehli: The best Dane, in an unlucky Denmark side who was unlicky not to make it out of the group of death. Scored goals and created goals in a great all round display from the Brondby player.

Mine has slightly changed
Casillas
A. cole, Pepe, Ramos, Arbeloa
Pirlo Khedira Iniesta
Balotelli Ibra CR7
Shout outs for Xabi alonso, Coentrao, Jordi alba, Lahm, Ozil & montolivio
But these XI the best for me.

messixaviesta wrote:I am waiting for official lists from Uefa but till then let's try our own hand.
Goalkeeper - Iker Casillas / Gianluigi Buffon
Left Back - Philipp Lahm
Right Back - Tough to decide this one but I could go with Joao Perreira
Central Defenders - Mats Hummels, Pepe
Defensive Midfielder - Sami Khedira
Central Midfielder - Andrea Pirlo
Attacking Midfielders - Andres Iniesta, Mesut Ozil
Forwards - Cristiano Ronaldo
It's hard to choose a striker. Mario Gomez would have got the position had he not lost his place in the starting lineup. Hence we can go for a striker less formation. So the eleventh player is the joker in the pack that is hard to decide. I would probably go for Joao Moutinho who I think has been the most underrated player at this tournament with David Silva being the closest competitor and who might make for a better formation but it's more important for me here to choose the best eleven.
So here is my selection.
Casillas
Perreira Hummels Pepe Lahm
Khedira Pirlo Moutinho
Iniesta Ozil C.Ronaldo
I will have to change a few things now.
Replace Hummels with Ramos, Lahm with Coentra/Alba ( it's so difficult to choose between them ), Khedira with De Rossi and Moutinho with Balotelli although I still think the former played well and is only losing out due to intense competition.
The team now becomes :-
Casillas
Perreira Ramos Pepe Coentrao
De Rossi Pirlo
Iniesta Ozil C.Ronaldo
Balotelli

1 space remining in my lobsided shape, dont know who is going to but so far this is it.

Re: Name Your All Star Eleven For Euro 2012 So Far
people are seriously picking pereira?
also, ramos? really?
generally, aside from de rossi, pepe and pirlo there's a shocking lack of good individual performances throughout the entire tournament... balotelli had a shot at the flop xi before the semifinal, ronaldive was average at best in 3/5 of his games, as was ozil but there's just no competition...
