france looks alive...but menez seems very shaky at times. The duo Mexes-Rami doesn't look as if they were clicking either. Otherwise, Clichy and Debuchy both started, impressive....

Theres still major concerns..... Benz coming deep is fine but someone needs to take up his space like Cabaye did on a couple of occasions.

As for Cabaye he was restricted far too much in the first half he needs to be able to link between Nasri and the others and the gap between Cabaye and Nasri was far too big in this game.

This cant allow to happen in the KO stages.

As for Menez, for me he should'nt start for me, there are better options like Ben Arfa or bring Martin in to solidify the midfield and help link the play a lot better and put Nasri and Ribery on the wings or even put Giroud on and play Benzema deeper.

Obviously the defence is'nt that impressive either, but luckily most of the teams in the tournaments have poor defenses one of the reasons the average of goals scored per game at this tournament is the highest its been since it was changed to 16 teams.

In theory France should go far, lets see.

2.88 goals/game so far, which is very high.

Just realized France is 99.9.% qualified

If England and Ukraine draw, we beat Ukraine. SInce France and Ukraine would both have 4 pts, France would be thru on head-to-head.

If Ukraine wins, England's GD would at least fall to 0. We would need to lose by 2 to Sweden and score less goals total than England. Highly unlikely.

If England wins, it's self explanatory.

So really, we're playing for 1st place.

We're the best in the tournament in shots on target allowed... we've only allowed 3 in 2 games. Also, we're the best in total shots allowed... only 12 total in 2 games.

Ben arfa and Nasri are redundant... it won't work imo. Too similar in style. We need width to take defenders wide and allow Benz to have space to attack the middle.

I actually loved how Menez attacked other than his bad finishing. That may just be nerves since he doesn't start ever with France NT and this was his first start in a major tournament for the NT. He brings width and diversity to the attack.

Finally, Giroud and Benz will not start together. We only have 2 CFs on the squad and you need one on the bench. They will only play together if we're desperate for a goal.

I liked what i saw. Key in tournaments is to improve in every game. Let's see if the progress continues...

It's actually good for France imo. They can stop trying to play cute and acting like they are spain in the making with those short passes in small intervals that go nowhere, and return to countering. Blanc is mediocre, as long as they park and counter, they have better odds to achieve something. Just like Mexes getting a second yellow, Koscielny will make a difference. Seriously, Blanc sucks.
