Cristiano would be worth more than R9? I don't think so
Don't forget who put Nike Football on the map.. R9 has tons of marketing value, and he's 10x better on the pitch

I don't like these forums because many cannot be judged. None here saw Pele play, live or on television just on youtube, which quiet frankly could make Heskey be a god. Let alone so many older players are overrated.

first need to figure out how much messi and c ronaldo are worth
if c ronaldo's still worth 80 mil pounnds and messi say 100 then both zidane and drogba are overpriced

TV coverage of football back in the 50s, 60s and 70s was scarce at best for even the top leagues. How much coverage do you think the Brazilian league had back then? Not many people would have got to see Pele on live on TV.....unless it was on a global stage like the World Cup. And if you look hard enough, you could find whole World Cup games that featured Pele
So.............why not use Youtube as a means of measuring how good an oldie is?

As I said, youtube can make ANYONE look good, and I did not mean live television I mean either live in person OR in television, which you could almost swear no one here is 60+ years old or older..Lex wrote:Break it downGomez83 wrote:None here saw Pele play, live or on television

with players like Hazard and Neymar all ''worth'' 50 million these days, i also wonder how much a 19 year old RONALDO would've cost Inter to buy from Barca...probably close to a billion like someone else said earlier in the thread

Over hype is the more appropriate term. If I'm not mistaken, the likes of Maradona, Old man Johan, Breitner, Di Stefano, Puskas, Muller, Zico, Pele, etc. were that awesome.

Young people say this all the time. It is not true, the greats are not overrated at all, in fact, the attacking players are extremely underrated. A Messi would not have had the skill to overcome the hard tackling and defending that Maradona and Pele had to overcome, for example.

Re: How much do you think some legends of the game would be worth in today's inflated market?
this "how much is x worth" threads always make me cringe which i believe justifies the caps here
THEY WOULD BE WORTH WHATEVER THE SELLING AND BUYING PARTY AGREED ON
can you put a price on messi? no, because barcelona aren't selling... please stop this "market value" crap...

With that being said, if one has 1 billion Euros to spare, you have the permission of Barcelona to proceed with contractual talks with Lionel Messi. Basically, 1 billion Euros to hear the word "no"...

Funny how if you even offer that amount of money, you will end up receiving a Bayern jersey with his counterfeit signature on it, you wouldn't get his name on it neither.
