Re: Asian Champions League
Al-Jazira and Al-Ahli played a GOAT game yesterday. Went to penalties with Al-Ahli winning, I root for Al-Ahli since they have my national team's star striker (he scored :lucas
Al-Jazira is Sheik Manoor's club btw so City fans should cheer for them imo :lucas :
Al-Ittihad and Al-Hilal are huge teams probably the biggest two in the east imo.
Bani Yas are good too and they have our national team's number 10 (he's from my home town too) As well as Senghor who is a beast.
The three Saudi teams all think they can win it and I'm inclined to agree. They are very good. Bani Yas might cause an upset though.
I have no idea how good the Irani teams are but I'm expecting them to be good. Also my knowledge of the west teams is literately zero lol

Re: Asian Champions League
Sepahan is Iran's best team. they defeated Esteghlal last night.
Perspolis vs Al Ittihad will be a great match. Perspolis under Denizli plays some good football. but Ittihad is favourite they are at home.

Re: Asian Champions League
Thanks for the contributing everyone
Ok, some stuff about Adelaide United:
We qualified for the ACL by finishing 3rd in the A-League last season. However, this we've had an awful season and the club finished 2nd bottom in the league which concluded about a month ago (no relegation). I.e. like Chelsea, we have to win it to stay in it next year. Central Coast Mariners and Brisbane Roar, teams that have outperformed us in the league, both failed to get out of their respective groups.
It is technically our off-season now, but we've gotten used to playing in the ACL. We are Australia's 'Asian' team, if you like. We have participated in the ACL four times, making it past the group stage twice (which is pretty good for a club that only started playing domestically in 2005).
One of those two times that Adelaide got past the group stages, we made it the whole way to the final, but lost to Gamba Osaka in 2008. Incidentally, we just eliminated Gamba from the competition by defeating them in our group.
We have a good record so far from the group stages: 4 W, 1 D, 1 L
The one loss was to Pohang Steelers (also eliminated from the group) and was purely due to a goalkeeping error when we were playing away in Korea and aiming for a draw. We easily finished top in our group.
Our key players are Sergio van Dijk (striker), Cassio (wing-back), Galekovic (GK) and Vidosic (CAM).
Our home stadium is Hindmarsh, which seats around 17, 000 - but can be expanded to fit around 22, 000 ppl.
Breif highlights of our two games against Gamba Osaka in this years group stages:
Game against Bunyodkor in the group stages:
Late winner v Pohang in the group stages:

Re: Asian Champions League
Persepolis Ali Karimi to win it alldoes anyone here support any of the teams left in the competition?
we are inconsistent team capable of playing some decent Football on our day
playing mostly 4-2-3-1/4-3-3(Depending on where Karimi(former Bayern man) is deployed
Al Ittihad are favorites but we are better when pressure is off
they come out to attack and we will be looking for counters
if we keep them at bay in early stages of the game and frustrate them then everything can happen
come on you persian Lads

Re: Asian Champions League
I was wondering were Gamba were, didn't know Adelaide knocked them out.
Anyway I love this East v West thing that Asia does. It makes the tournament a lot more interesting.

Re: Asian Champions League
Sepahan actually have a chance to reach the final. they have signed some good players this season which helped them to win the league.
Not sure about Perspolis, they are very incosistent but i hope they beat Al Ittihad.
