Milan sign Montolivo!
AC Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri has confirmed the arrival of Ricardo Montolivo ahead of the 2012-13 campaign.
The Fiorentina midfielder is out of contract this summer and after many months of speculation, the Italy international is now set to make a move to San Siro.
Milan missed out on claiming consecutive Scudetto titles last week with Juventus winning the Serie A title, and speaking ahead of his team's final game of the season against Novara on Sunday, the former Cagliari man confirmed the deal for Montolivo.

Great signing, good to see the Calcio front runner strengthening.

Re: Milan sign Montolivo!
For the sake of serie A I am happy to hear Milan are getting a new midfield.
Rivalries and all that are fine but for the sake of European football the best teams in serie A need to be strong.
I hope they get another good CM. And a LB.

Italian football needs to sort its head out right now, with Juve doing well we need Inter, Milan, Roma heck even Napoli, udinese and Lazio to come back also.
Soon Serie A > La liga, Bundes and EPL.

Finally, a conclusion to this saga. It's great to have a decent quality player coming in, even though he's not the major signing we need. An example of a good free transfer.

Not saying you weren't good. But it was painfully obvious that your midfield didn't cut it in Europe. Not enough energy or creativity.

Exavctly, with this signing Milan can once again consolidate their power and with a few key signings we could have an all calcio final in the champions league next season

Blame Moratti. 7 years rebuilding and then a scudetto.pUsHa wrote:We were doing good until now too ... its you who decided to show up ...
Not many clubs could do that IMO.

Welcome to Milan , Montolivo !
I wonder which number he will take . Perhaps Gattuso's 8 ?

Sell Pato ? and then who would replace him , Robinho maybe
We don't need to sell anyone to rebuild. In my opinion , we don' even need to "rebuild" in the first place. Just 3-4 additions like Montolivo and introduce some young talent like Sharaawy in the squad and we will be great for next season.
Surely , Milan can buy 3-4 players without considering selling Pato.

Re: Milan sign Montolivo!
Pato might be a great player but he is far too injury prone to rely upon.
Cassano would replace him next to Ibra. Not Robinho.
And in my opinion, buying 5 first team players including Monto is rebuilding a squad. Maybe 6 if Traore is going to be a starting player.

Cassano is a completely different kind of player than Pato , so he can't really replace him in the team. Only Robinho could , but he's nowhere near as good as Pato. You re talking about the 11 obviously , but the 11 changes all the time and not all teams Milan face will have problems with just Cassano and Ibrahimovic. Players like Pato can make the difference in games , as he has proven so many times before for Milan.
Now , i never said starters. I can name you the definite starters for next season and you will see there's not much room for , new starters..
Only the LB position , 50-50 about Silva's partner, might be Mexes anyway) are what's left is 1 more midfield which won't be Traore by the way . Even Flamini has more chances to become a regular finaly.
Abbiati , Abate , Silva , Nocerino, Montolivo , Boateng , Cassano and Ibrahimovic will still be regulars next season , so what's left isn't enough to "rebuild" .
We'll still buy , but to add to what we already have , not to rebuild. We don't have to , even when all of our legends are leaving.

We did fine in Europe. It was injuries in defense, particularly the absence of Thiago Silva in key games with Barcelona that was our downfall, not the midfield.

Re: Milan sign Montolivo!
I don't care what you say, but this formation will be the downfall of whole Europe
Some might argue that it's not good defensively, but both of Montolivo and Ganso tend to act as deep lying playmakers and they are not bad defensively, Nocerino is a must for his poaching and lung ability, with Cassano Ibrahimovic, Montolivo and Ganso supporting him he'll score more than Messi
Abate T.S CB De Sciglio
Nocerino Montolivo Ganso
Cassano/Boateng
Pato/Maxi Ibrahimovic
Nocerino Montolivo Ganso
Cassano/Boateng
Pato/Maxi Ibrahimovic

Hopefully he can rediscover his form next season. Good free signing. Now we need another midfielder (Ganso), Ogbonna, and a LB

Na monto is a deep lying playmaker, he's not an AM.
With italy he played 1 good game out of a few... that game being spain that's why you always hear he's good at AM, good signing for milan though
