The World Football Challenge is back.

The summer series of international matches that has become a fixture on the North American soccer calendar, returns in 2012 with the first four clubs already confirming their participation: Chelsea FC, Liverpool FC, Seattle Sounders FC and Toronto FC.

The WFC 2012 calendar of events kicks off with the previously announced matchup between three-time defending US Open Cup champions Seattle and English FA Cup finalists Chelsea at CenturyLink Field on Wednesday, July 18. Packaged tickets for the event are available online.

Chelsea, who are in the semifinals of the UEFA Champions League, will also participate in the AT&T MLS All-Star Game on July 25 at PPL Park in Chester, Pa.

Three days later, Rogers Centre in Toronto will serve as the stage for the unprecedented matchup between MLS side Toronto FC and storied English club Liverpool FC, who make their return to the city after last visiting in 2004. Tickets for that match go on sale May 4.

The World Football Challenge is a joint partnership between MLS and sports and entertainment agency CAA Sports.

Additional clubs and matches are set to be revealed at a later date by event organizers.

btw Argentina vs Brazil In NJ Met Life Stadium on the 9th next month thinking of going but a bit too expensive

I'd love to go to one of these games but having to travel that much would be really expensive. Hoping the end up with a game in Chicago that would be perfect

Sounds like it must have been an entertaining game. I'm sure that Sounders crowd was rocking. Was the game on TV? Sorry I missed it if it was.

Yeah it was on ESPN2. Packed house at CenturyLink Field as expected. Pretty good match as well. Seattle actually had more fight in them this time around, but Chelsea was just too good in front of goal.

I should have paid more attention to the TV listings.

That would be great. I had seen promos for those two while watching Sky Sports News the other day, but beyond that I have no idea. It will be great to be able to check here.

Can't find the DC United vs PSG game except for it being on FoxSoccer at 10 (EST) which I think is a replay of the game as the game is supposed to start at 7:30 (EST)

I checked to see if Comcast Sportsnet would carry the game locally in the DC viewing area, but they don't have it listed. But I did run across a schedule that has all the TV info:
