Arsenal v Wigan Preview
Arsenal v Wigan, Monday 16th April, 8pm, Emirates Stadium, Premier League, Sky Sports 1
Arsenal celebrate a goal in Wednesday night's 3-0 win at Wolves
Premier League Table

2. Man City 77pts
3. Arsenal 64pts
4. Spurs 59pts
- - - - -
5. Newcastle 59pts
6. Chelsea 57pts
- - - - -
17. Wigan 31pts
Gunners look to cement third place
Wednesday night’s 3-0 win at Wolves meant Arsenal moved five points ahead of Tottenham and Newcastle, and seven points ahead of Chelsea. With all three of the gunners’ rivals not playing in the league until next weekend, Monday night’s home fixture with Wigan provides Arsene Wenger’s men with the chance to extend the gap between themselves and the other top four contenders. Arsenal have won nine of their last ten Premier League games and three of their next four league games are at the Emirates Stadium.
Wigan find form at right time
Every year, Wigan are written off by everyone. Cast iron relegation favorites by all accounts. Yet, they always seem to find a way out of it, and this season, it looks like they might survive again. Between September and November, Roberto Martinez’s side lost eight successive league games, scoring just four times. A 4-0 loss against Arsenal at the DW Stadium in December was surrounded by wins against Sunderland and West Brom, but then came nine games without a win in the league. Since a 2-1 win away Bolton in February, the Latics have lost just two of their eight fixtures, and beaten Liverpool, Stoke and Manchester United in that time.
Meeting at the DW
The aforementioned 4-0 victory for Arsenal against Wigan back in December came when Wenger’s side were flying. It was the gunners’ seventh win in eight league games, and since that day, Arsenal have won twelve of their nineteen league games. Mikel Arteta, Thomas Vermaelen, Gervinho and Robin van Persie were on the score sheet for Arsenal that day – ( http://bbc.in/wDZ8BJ )

Manager quotes
Arsène Wenger
“We are on a very strong run, but last year we were on a strong run downwards. Where we finish we will see at the end of the season but at the moment our focus is to maintain our momentum and finish in a stronger position than last year. It is possible if we maintain our results, [like we are] at the moment. Champions League football is still our main target of the season. For a while it was very difficult, for some people [they thought] it was impossible, but now it is feasible. Considering where we came from, we want to take our chance now.”
Roberto Martinez
“If you look at the last few performances they have been untouchable in the way they are playing their football, controlling games and scoring goals. But we know that if we are at our best, we can be competitive against anyone.”

Sam always in beast mode.
Did I read that properly? The Ox will be making his 50th appearance?
They really do grow up fast.
I really hope he starts, but he's always projected to start and then Benayoun grabs the spot which isn't a bad thing as he's been on fire.

I'm hoping you didn't jinx it there.. That penalty was the only goal he has scored in 4 games (or 5?).. He'd tie with Henry for most league goals in a season if your wish came true though

Re: Arsenal v Wigan Preview
Arsenal talisman Tomas Rosicky says his side face a tough match in the Premier League when they take on Wigan on Monday night.
The Gunners are five points clear of rivals Tottenham with five games remaining in this season’s top-flight campaign.
And Rosicky is aware that a home win against Wigan on Monday will further increase their lead over Harry Redknapp’s Spurs.
"Wigan beat Manchester United on Wednesday, so that’s an indication that it will be a tough test for us," he told the club's official magazine.
"We’ll have to be on top of our game to win, no doubt about it. Wigan have some very good players and a good young manager, so this will be a very tough match for us.
"We have a great chance to stay in [third] position, but now we have to make sure of it. That starts against Wigan on Monday - and make no mistake, it’s a very big game for us.
"People might not usually regard a match against Wigan as such a big one, but they are still battling relegation, so there is a lot at stake for both of us.
"We saw what can happen against a team fighting for its life when we played away at QPR, and we expect the same kind of performance from Wigan on Monday. We have to give 100 per cent to get the result."
Rosicky was also eager to praise the fans, who have remained faithful through injury-stricken times this season.
"Recently the atmosphere at our home games has been absolutely amazing - the team can feel it and it is a big help for us," he continued. "It is a great feeling to have the supporters so passionately behind you for the whole 90 minutes.
"The supporters really do make a difference at Emirates Stadium and we’re hoping that we can keep that connection by winning more games."

Re: Arsenal v Wigan Preview
Great work Sam
lets just get the job Done
Chambo vs Boyce :hungry:
Though it seems beausejour-Maloney partnership is underrated defensively but Bac-Theo gonna give them hard times
top 7 seven sides in terms of possession average something round 55-59%
and the rest are below 50%
though first in that is Wigan with (8th place overall) is wigan with 49.7
but we should have no prob
hopefully early goal will make it easier for us
