What place is there for GH20
Higuain
Personally, he's one of my favourite players at the club.
Sure, last season was not his best, but that's because he underwent surgery. Nonetheless, he scored like a dozen goals in what was basically half a season.
And furthermore, he's proved himself to the club time and time again...
When he played mostly off the bench in 2008, he delivered-even sealed the title for us against Ossasuna.
When Van Nistelrooy got injured in 2009, he delived- 20+ goals that season.
In 2010, when Raul and Benzema showed poor form, Higuain was the perfect partner for our superstar signing Ronaldo.
This season, he was on track for yet another 20+ goal season, and got injured.
Now, (to Benzema's credit, he did step up his game last season) Higuain is pretty much destined for a bench role. With a new superstar CF about to be signed (Aguero or Neymar), Higuain could well end up as our 3rd choice striker. WTF?
How much more does he have to prove?
And to his credit, regardless of what happens, Higuain will stay, He will work his ass off and prove that he is capable of starting for the superstar team...
But, I really feel sorry for him. He should be a starter even if we signed the best in the world...

I get your message and feel for him. I'd just say like zealous:
Bring the next striker to be benched by Pipita!

Re: What place is there for GH20
There has to be concern about Pipita's return to full health. Otherwise, all these striker deals would make zero sense. It's also clear that Mou does not trust benzema... Football is pretty ruthless, especially at Madrid. There's no room for sentimentality.

^^true, the fact that mourinho signed off on a 18 yo Varane is very impressive.

Mou's just stockpiling talent. Some will stick... Most will rotate out in a year or two.

I really hope it's just either Aguero or Neymar we'll be signing (or none for that matter). But Real Madrid is really a ruthless football club. If you're loved, you're loved unconditionally. When your not needed/wanted, they really don't mix matters...

What the hell is going on here
Jose preferred an unfit just back from injury Higuain over Benzema ffs
If anyone should be worried it has to be Benzema. Not selected against Barcelona at all despite being 100%
I think it was obvious whenever possible Jose went with Higuain.
Perez may not like him but that means crap all atm considering Jose is calling the shots now.
Higuain is going no where.

I hope they both stay, but rumours from alot of Spanish media is that the hierarchy although happy with Benzema are worried about his lack of maturity, from various incidents in his first year at Madrid, to a couple more last season including laziness in training and now his trouble at Ibiza, it does not put forward a good image for the club.
I really hope he does not get sold and they persist with him. I also think if anyone is to straighten him out it would have to be Jose Mourinho. But I think generally people are looking in the wrong direction on this one.

You're reading different spanish meda than me!!!!
Here in Spain, I would say the consensus is the exact opposite. Higgy has improved in each of his years here. The pursuit of additional strikers is all about improving club and wanting different skill sets in the 3 strikers. Benz and Higgy are too much alike. I've seen posts here that Benz can play wing and even MF (LOL at that). Well Higgy, as well as rumoured additions can also play wing as well. The consenus here is that although Benz did show his probable true form after February, he didn't earn his keep (transfer fee / salary) over the 2 years.

If we do sign a new striker Benzema is likely to be sold and plus Aguero and Higuain can start together.

I was trying to sugarcoat it abit so as not to garner too much hate, but whatever lmao.
Lets just be brutally honest

Re: What place is there for GH20
I don't think that Benz and Higgy are anything alike honestly. One plays link up, participates in the build up and excels with the ball facing the goal.... prefers to attack the box from the corners and high. The other is a specialist at making runs behind and between defenders without the ball and poaching... prefers being inside the box when receiving the ball. Couldn't be more different honestly. One is a 9.5 while the other is a pure 9.
As far as the rest of it, it's been discussed ad nauseum.

Guess you have never seen Higuain out wide deliver in crosses and run at goal with the ball from deep then?
Because I have seen that a number of times

Re: What place is there for GH20
I'm not talking about whether a player can do something or not. Benzema is playing in the box because that's what's required of him... not his comfort zone, but he's ok at it now. Higuain can also play outside the box... not his best area either, but decent at it.
In terms of playing style and how they like to attack the defense, they couldn't be more different.
Btw, every striker will go wide and center the ball on occasion because sometimes you're pushed there by the defense or the pass/dribble takes you wide.

You realise Higuain was a winger before he was a striker right?

Higuain was a winger until he was 19. How is that relevant? We're talking about how each player approached the CF role. Higuain attacks it from a poacher's perspective, while Benzema is a 9.5. The drastic difference in styles and strengths is not even debatable.

If you say so
In any case and back on topic, Higuain is untouchable in my opinion
