Sid Lowe in Spain has been in touch and explained the Ander Herrera-Manchester United situation and it is a little bit more complicated than we first thought.

Sid confirms that the buy-out clause is indeed €36m but if the clubs cannot agree then the player would have to go to the league and deposit the money himself (and I think this is what happened with Sevilla's GeoffreyKondogbia earlier this week, although his transfer to Monaco still hasn't gone through.

So if my understanding of this is correct, United would have to pay Herrerra the €36m for him to pay it to Athletic. And there is a huge problem with this as the money then becomes taxable at a rate o f 52%!!! And that is obviously almost €19m, which changes everything

the whole Herrera thing is similar to Thiago and Kondogbia.....so obviously Bilbao don't rate him as a €36,000,000 player but after taxes they only get like €15,000,000 which is what there actual value of him is likely.

I think the Telegraph is slightly wrong, we've already bid €12 million and it's already been rejected (the part the Telegraph left out), according to the Guardian and Di Marzio.

I blame Woodward. He's shown just how much of an amateur he is at finalising transfer deals.

It pisses me off that we always are unwilling to add a couple of millions to get players, players that we badly need. It's ridiculous.

now i desperately need this transfer window to shut close asap as that will ultimately spare us from this highly frustrating month long ordeal.

and there is a club in our Premier League itself Woodward and co. should learn from on how to go about the transfer business so smoothly and effectively. Spurs. i mean just look at them. 7 new signings (3 of them in a single day ) and some among them really top class ones and they did it with so much ease and minimal fuss.

Its only when Man U is attempting to land someone the bosses on the other side are so adamant and rock solid in their stands and hold on to their guys successfully. All other teams can lure players and convince their managers to sell. Why so? How this same shite story repeated over and over again. Its damn funny if we think about it.
