Well, i used to have websites before and forums, so i know about making and maintaining websites.

Since some of the moved here, i was thinking about making a bigger website with its own domain etc. Also duplicate the users, posts, mods etc to the new forums. Afcource the Admin of this forum must agree to this.

It will help attract more members and i will advertise it so this forums becomes almost as big as they were back in goal.com place.

I wont if you guys like the current place. So what do you guys think.

It's a nice gesture and not the first time someone has made it. Keep in mind bigger isn't always better and it doesn't guarantee we'll attract quality posters. More members can be a positive, but it can also be a negative, it all depends on what kind of members we attract. It could lead to more trolls which would possibly create more work for the mods and on the flip-side, it might attract some new intelligent football fans who have been looking for a place to discuss the beautiful game and life.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't creating a new website/forum force us to start allover again? Not really sure how I feel about losing everything we've built over the last couple of months. Couldn't we just do our best to advertise this place on our own? I don't encounter many people passionate about football in New York, but if/when I do, I always tell them about this place.

Actually, we can even convert all the topics, posts, members to the new forums, i think there is an option in the forummotion to export all the data. So we will have the same forum as today etc.

About the trolls etc, it wont be a problem, we will still have mods to deal with them like in the old goal.com.

but the activity will be high and we might have more people to discuss with which is not a problem, rather better.

We have a lot of offers in this regard SuperMAG, however i would like to say we appreciate your kind offer.


We arn't planning on a move or anything since this forum is already getting better with each month, but we will definitely improve it with adding a proper domain in the future.

But again, atm there is no plan at all to do that and will be looked upon when at least 2-3 admins are on a holiday.

How about maybe transferring this forum onto Vbulletin and renaming it goallegacy.com? That way it could maybe become more popular.

I think if we wanted to make it super popular, change the domain etc. etc. then we would need to rename the site as well because we're not affiliated with goal.com at all so the name just sounds unprofessional/cheesy.

I don't think anyone would know it was affiliated.

Vbulletin costs alot i think around $200... SMF or Phpbb 3.0 is better and free and more customized

If we wanted to make this forum popular, there are 100 of ways of doing so. We just wanted to keep it stable for a year.

There is no point moving to VBulletin because Phpbb3 is better. we can always get a domain to make it .com in the future

I think Vbulletins better. It's the best forum software out there imo. Looks more professional as well.
