Royal Navy to send HMS Dauntless to Falkland Islands
Though it would have only been a matter of time until it kicked off in the Falklands again with the argies making their mouths go. If it did I didn't think we would of been able to put up much of a fight with all the cuts to the armed forces, lack of air craft carriers and having to rely on the French. commitments in Afghanistan etc.
then this came out today
Argentina's move
then this came out today
Dauntless will set sail for the Falkland Islands in the coming weeks armed with a battery of missiles that could "take out all of South America's fighter aircraft let alone Argentina's," according to one Navy source.
The Type 45 destroyer is the most advanced anti-aircraft and anti-ballistic ship in the world equipped with 48 Sea Viper missiles and the Sampson radar, which is more advanced than Heathrow air traffic control
The ship is in a league of its own in air defence able to track dozens of multiple targets
"It can shoot down Argentine fighters as soon as they take off from they bases," said another Navy source. "This will give Buenos Aires serious pause for thought."

So it's Aegis equiped... Doesn't mean it can't be sunk through ground or sea based weapons.
Anyways, this is all sabre rattling. It probably won't end up in anything, unless Commander Chávez has successfully applied the charm on Cristina :lucas:

Wow that is one hell of ship, lol Argentine would be a fool to attack them, if things get worse all they have to do ask the big brother to send a few planes. :lucas:

well prince william is stationed there for a little while, only natural to increase defences when the heir to the throne is there.

subs can sink any ship if they are not detected. dauntless can carry upto two helicopters with anti-sub warfare packages. dont forget there is undoubtedly a trafalgar or swiftsure class sub in the area for extra defense.
