If it actually was based on Shankly Gates then I would recognize it.

Here are the Shankly Gates which is a textbook victorian english ornamental design.

The design on the sleeve? I don't have to debate on a visual basis for you to differentiate between them.

Its far far closer to tribal (or whatever that nonsensical pattern may be) then to the Shankly Gates.

Yeah I think that Pool kit looks quite good actually. Very smart from Warrior. Only kit that's looking borderline bad is the away kit.

As for Valencia...wow...I actually like that senyera look. I remember they've worn something similar to this in recent years and I liked those as well. Looks bad initially, but it'll grow on us.

i don't think the kit is bad (worse than last year's but not horrible) but the ronald mcdonald socks just kill it...

Strangely enough, I must admit the shirt looks almost tenfold superior once actually worn.

Which is why I want to share a lesson I have learnt over the past months. (Don't read if don't want to cringe).

Just like the excruciatingly painful cliche "Don't judge a book by its cover", I have learnt that... You should never judge a futbol shirt before its worn.

I don't like the orange or the sleeve patterns on the 'pool kit. I don't mind Valencia's kit. The colours are a bit bright, but it looks alright anyway.

Most kits look better when the players play in them. Not sure if that can be applied to Barca's away kit, because that one's downright terrible lol.

Fair enough. I can see where this may not go over well in Europe. The designs were rumored to be inspired by the Shankly Gates, but in production they do resemble the "tribal" pattern that has been on a great deal of sports apparel lately. It's a more prominent sports design feature in the US. I personally think it's subtle enough that it doesn't dominate the design, but then again my perspective is different than yours. To each his own. As I said before, I like it, and I hope they end up wearing this more than the actual away kit.

(Addition: I love the way it looks when worn. The sleeves make more sense that way.)

Well get used to the Tribal designs as they are a Warrior trademark. The majority of there lacrosse stuff started that way when they got into the sport. Overall, they are my second favorite brand to under armor and I expect big things out of them as they expand into the football market.
