The 29-year-old striker moved to Juventus earlier in the month on a six-month deal after being relegated to Roma's periphery under Luis Enrique.

One of the banners displayed during Juventus' 1-0 victory at Lecce read "Borriello, mercenary with no honour and dignity", while another indicated that the club's fans had hoped for a marquee signing.

"Borriello, high fashion, [Chelsea's] Fernando Torres, great deal... Thanks, [Juventus director Giuseppe] Marotta," read another banner.

Borriello was close to joining Juventus in 2010 but he preferred to move to Roma as, according to him, the Turin-based club did not wish to hand him a permanent deal.


Upon signing for Juve, the 29-year-old guaranteed that he never snubbed Juve, but the club's fans have expressed their doubts over the signing.

I think the way Juve plays will suit Borrielo .He isnt WC ,but still can be very useful.

i agree. technical ability-wise, Borriello is a very good player. I mean Juve got Luca Toni too, so why is MB such a big deal?

They did the same thing when Poulsen was signed. Luckily, Poulsen showed as all why the fans where wrong.
