Arsenal and Manchester United keen on January move for Anderlecht’s Lucas Biglia claims agent
The Argentine international's representative confirmed the interest of the two Premier League clubs, suggesting the defensive midfielder will only move to a top European side
The agent of Anderlecht's Lucas Biglia has claimed that both Arsenal and Manchester United are interested in signing the defensive midfielder.
The 25-year-old joined the Belgian side in 2006, and has since gained six caps for Argentina, with his representative Enzo Montepaone talking up a Premier League move for his client ahead of the January transfer window.
“Fiorentina, Arsenal and Manchester United? The interest of those clubs is real,” Montepaone told Het Nieuwsblad.
“If everything goes to wish, Lucas will be back in Brussels on 2nd of January. He will start training then and will be ready for the Europa League-game against AZ.
"It's right that those clubs are interested. From the moment he came to Anderlecht it was the plan to grow as a player. Now is the moment for him to go to a big club.
“He can earn double his salary at another club. He will not leave Anderlecht for another European sub-top club. That's why we were not interested in the offer of Atletico Madrid.”
Both English clubs are reportedly on the lookout for midfielder reinforcements in January, with Arsenal keen to plug the holes left by Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri's departures, whilst Manchester United must combat the retirement of Paul Scholes and Darren Fletcher's extended absence from football due to illness.
“Big clubs know that there isn't much changed in their midfield line. They are searching for new blood. Biglia is a potential elite player,” Montepaone added.
“From Anderlecht point of view he doesn't have to leave, because Lucas has a contract until 2015. If it depends on Anderlecht he will be staying in Brussels.
"The minimum [transfer fee] is €8 million. We still have until 1st of February.”

He is playing with the reserves. Should have stayed in Belgium till he was actually ready.

Biglia is a great player. Not sure why we'd need another CM with Wilshere coming back soon, unless Wenger plans to play him at AM.
Can Biglia play AM, Alfred?

He's more of a Cambiasso player.

Re: Arsenal and Manchester United keen on January move for Anderlecht’s Lucas Biglia claims agent
According to AS, Anderlecht's Lucas Biglia is being closely watched by Real Madrid, with a transfer deal for him likely to take place in the summer.
With Lassana Diarra poised to leave the club after barely featuring for Jose Mourinho's side this season, the centre of the park has been identified by Real Madrid management as the area most in need of strengthening. A recent report indicates that Los Blancos are interested in Juventus' Arturo Vidal, though the latest news out of Spain suggests the Chilean is not Real's only option.
Since signing for Anderlecht from Independiente, Biglia has become a permanent fixture in the Belgian club's starting eleven, recording over 150 Belgian Pro League appearances so far. Despite signing a new deal last year, the Argentinean is believed to have had his head turned by interest from Arsenal, Manchester United and Real, as he is now seeking a move to a bigger European club.
As Biglia typically plays in a defensive midfield role, he is seen as the perfect replacement for the departing Diarra. However, with his current contract due to run till 2015, it remains to be seen if Los Blancos can pry him away from the Constant Vanden Stock Stadium.
Biglia under close watch by many top European clubs including Arsenal, Liverpool, Real Madrid, Juventus and PSG.

Yeah he's pretty complete, in the mold of Joao Moutinho/Cambiasso.
