Germany legend Franz Beckenbauer has voiced his opinion that Koln striker Lukas Podolski would succeed at any club, including Barcelona and Real Madrid.

The 66-year-old believes that the former Bayern Munich attacker has matured since his unsuccessful stint in Bavaria, and has since demonstrated that he could slot into any outfit in the world.

"Lukas can play anywhere, whether it be Barcelona or Real Madrid - he has grown," Beckenbauer told Spox.

"He would also do well at Schalke, but ultimately, it is a decision that he must make himself."

Podolski has enjoyed a stellar campaign with Koln, scoring 13 goals in the Bundesliga thus far and his rich vein of form has attracted plenty of admirers, namely DFB-Pokal winners Schalke.

His current deal expires in 2013, and the publication also reports that there has been no pressing desire from the 26-year-old to renew his terms, despite previously appearing calm about his future.

I tend to never disagree with the Kaiser, and I won't do it now.

He's Europe's most underrated forward (outside this Forum ), he is having a great season (and did as well last season) considering his shit club and teammates, as well as his managers ridiculously defensive approach.

He should replace CR7, at least Real would have a team player on the wing, then. :p

But TBH I think he would just be a perfect fit for the EPL's style, though in La Liga, he'd suddenly be considered a powerful, strong player who can outmuscle the defense, which might suit him as well.

Point is, Podolski could really go places if he finds a big club with a manager that both understands his strengths as well as trusts him.

So yeah, I'm with the Kaiser on this one. The Prince can play anyf*ckingwhere.

He'd be too expensive for Klopp, Gil. Dortmund are still paying off that massive stadium and until then have a decent ammount of depth. It's why they haven't spend more than 5m on one player.

This. They plain can't afford him. They're still massively crippled from their spending spree in the 00s, they just can't pay a guy like Podolski. And why should he take a paycut? He's clearly performing.

Would fit in well with Arsenal, but TBH I think he'd be boss at Utd or Real as well. I really want to see him at a big club, and show all the doubters what a left-footed cannon looks like. <3

An inside forward? I don't think he's ever played in that position before. I've seen him from left midfield to striker, but he'd have to start from scratch there and I'd think it's too much of a hassle.

Probably because his dribbling ain't up there, although the howitzer definitely is.

Can someone explain to me why everyone thinks he is so good? Not trolling, I geniuely dont know. I mean I seen him a few teams and at Bayern and in the WC, great powerful shots, pace, burst runs, etc...but thats about it...his all round game is lacking...

He was, it's just that only Heynckes knew of his power, and by the time mighty Jupp took the helm, Poldi was already sold.
