UEFA Champion's League: The Deception
So, what do you think? Ajax had three points and seven goals over Lyon in the fight for second place in Group D behind Real Madrid. Dinamo were reduced to 10 men midway through the first half before the 17-year old midfielder Mateo Kovacic fired them into a 40th-minute lead against Lyon.
With the other result going their way as the Group D winners Real Madrid beat Ajax 3-0 after Ajax had scored twice but both goals wrongfully disallowed, the floodgates opened at the Maksimir stadium after the break as Gomis led the charge, eventually scoring four in doing so he scored the quickest ever Champions League hat-trick. His three goals in seven minutes, meant the France striker beat the previous record set by Blackburn Rovers' Mike Newell in December 1995.
Looking back on the highlights it appears that the Dinamo Zagreb players stopped trying after half time, they walked in defense and just let players run right past them. The goal-keeper seemed to never make the correct decision either.
Could a champion's league team really concede 6 in 30 minutes at home legitimately or was there some string pulling behind the scenes at half time allowing Lyon to score freely?
Also there are some things you might want to keep in mind, first off, this isn't the first time that a Dinamo Zagreb has been speculated or even investigated for corruption and match fixing.

There is even an anti-corruption bureau in Croatia called USKOK that does these investigations. Here is some of their work:

UEFA questions Croatian referee over match-fixing
August 17, 2010. The Croatian Football Federation says a UEFA investigator is questioning a Croatian referee
about a national league match the German police suspect was fixed.
Bruno Maric was questioned for three hours on Wednesday in Zagreb. Maric was the ref when Dinamo Zagreb
beat Hajduk Split 3-0 in the final of the national Cup.
German prosecutors, who have been investigating match-fixing across Europe since November, said recently
they suspect 270 matches in several countries, including Croatia, and more than 250 people.
They say profits from manipulated bets amounted to €7.5 million ($9.6 million)
There is even an anti-corruption bureau in Croatia called USKOK that does these investigations. Here is some of their work:

hmm interesting, if true, who could possibly be behind it? a direct bribe from Lyon officials? or a bigger hand?

If there's any match to investigate for match fixing, it's this one.

Re: UEFA Champion's League: The Deception
Surely UEFA must investigate? Can anyone provide highlights of the 4 Gomis goals? I want to analyse them again.

Re: UEFA Champion's League: The Deception
Investigation should happen. However, the odds are that this is a betting related fixing. The odds for Lyon to qualify to the knock-outs must have been huge considering the point gap and the goal deficit.

Well lets hope they do, but doubt they would wanna bring the comp into dispute with match fixing.
Def sounds like a betting scandal the odds wouldve been huge

You have to be kidding me, the goals from after halftime were just too easy! The Dinamo defenders weren't defending anymore, looks like someone sedated all of them. that's BS man...

Re: UEFA Champion's League: The Deception
i doubt its a betting scandal coz the scale of this would simply be huge. There's no guarantee that Lyon would score 7 goals even against 10 men, so unless Dinamo are involved then the whole scandal thing it doesnt make sense

We put six past Dynamo without even really trying.
It could be that they just gave up and stopped caring.

The mighty Real Madrid scored a mere one goal against them in Croatia. Lyon scored 7.Zealous wrote:We put six past Dynamo without even really trying.

Re: UEFA Champion's League: The Deception
Come to think of it no one was expecting City to win 1-6 at Old Trafford and United players were just standing there towards the end barely doing anything. OMG match fixing!!!!
@ LM
That was the first game in the group when everyone had a chance to qualify. They were pumped up for that game.
After the Ajax games though Dynamo were pretty much out and the difference in play was huge.

Re: UEFA Champion's League: The Deception
I think a fixing could possibly have taken place, especially considering Zagreb's goalkeeper and defenders put in next to zero effort when faced with the Lyon attacks. However, there being a connection between Ajax being robbed of two fair goals and Dynamo Zagreb intentionally losing to Lyon seems too complicated to arrange. Must really take some extremely precise organisation to do so.
