Re: Skrtel = GOAT
In my honest opinion he's been the best CB in England, not only top 3/5 Art. He's probably top 3/5 in Europe. Agger top 5

Sexy beast wins another award for last season. LDSA award is given by the Liverpool's Disabled Supporters Association who chose him to be our undeniable star of last season.

looooooool, two Cardiff guys there
Skrtel has been beasting it, I'm pretty confident he is in Rodgers' plans for next season's best XI.

Re: Skrtel = GOAT
the way he has grown in this season, just unbelievable :bow:the way he is taking responsibility or ownership to get the ball at his feet and play a neat pass somewhere in the midfield or to Stivie and making him always available to Stivie when he is under pressure. I am not saying he has got amazing ability with the ball like some other CB have but he is using his limited skills in a very neat but at the same time adventurous way. He has to be here in the next season, no doubt about that :bow:we need that experience next season and selling him doesnt make sense at all to me.

Re: Skrtel = GOAT
1) He's not limited...
2) He's ALWAYS been like this, it's why I've rated him higher than Agger, because he is better defensively.
3) The only thing stopping him from being "World Class" is he's prone to make stupid individual mistakes.
He was getting attacked at the start of the season for "making us play a deep line" when that's the way he was instructed to play. He's pretty much the 'sweeper' type out of the two CBs, he's playing deeper so we don't get exploited from counter-attacks. And it's worked to an extent. Compare us conceding goals from the last few years to this season, not many have come from counter-attacks. The opposition has either scored from a set piece, or a gift from an individual mistake. lol
I'd rather keep Skrtel than sell Agger in the summer. He's better, less injury prone, and a goalscoring threat.

Re: Skrtel = GOAT
Very little has been said about our Thug. There's been plaudits for Sakho, Emre and (lately) even Mignolet. But Skrtel has been awesome. I think there were few games where he took care of Sakho or Emre's mistakes or deficiencies.

Yeah, well, I'm not surprised he's been great, he's been our best defender for a few years now and continues to be that.

There's B1
McAgger has too many posts to find an actual quote.
"Sarcasm" was potentially Kolo. But I remember someone saying Skrtel should be dropped for a Kolo - Agger partnership.

Re: Skrtel = GOAT
Skrtel himself is not a WC defender but he does give WC performances many times . Also, he has been really consistent in this season and i dont remember him doing a single mistake which led to goal or a shot in this season

Re: Skrtel = GOAT
The thing is that all players make mistakes, defenders and goalkeepers just get scrutinized for them a hundred times more than midfielders and forwards.
Anyway, for my money we are sorted as far as our top two CBs go for the next couple of years, Skrtel and Sakho. No need to buy an upgrade (like we tried to do when Rodgers thought Lovren was needed to replace Sakho, but I don't want to get entangled in that again). Ideally we would get a young CB as third-choice (I'm hoping Can's place will be in midfield) to slowly learn the trade, like Chelsea have Zouma, Everton have Stones, Arsenal perhaps Chambers etc. McAgger will say Ilori is that young CB, we'll see.
