Why not Johan himself?
Why cant he have a second stint?
He has had a long break. So once Pep leaves why cant the master take over from the disciple?

Re: The next coach after Pep Guardiola?
Cruyff won't be around in any way as long as Sandro is President. Which is sad.

Cruyff and Rossell hate each other with a passion mate. It's no secret. Hell when asked what can stop barcelona Cruyffs response was: "if rosssel tries to be clever..."... Rossel is a tosser, he's a good business man but he lacks the flair and soul of previous barca presidents. He is in akward position now because Guardiola loves Cruyff because he feels that Cruyff made him what he is and Laporta gave him the chance to coach so he extremeley loyal, hell if barca weren't as successful, rossel would have gotten rid of Pep long time agi. Their relationship is cold at best. Rossel wasn't best pleased when Pep openly supported Laporta (who burst into tears in court). Then the man suing Laporta retracted (under supposed advice from rossell). The whole board in Barcelona are scared of how much power Guardiola is getting. At the same time Mou is accumulating power in Real. Is this a new era for the big two?
on topic. My preference would be maradona...

Bielsa or AVB for me.
Still would like to see how AVB pans out but I like him

Maradona? Are you joking me? Come on, look how 'successful' the guy was in the WC.

It'd be great to see Xavi, but not right after Pep. If he began coaching in his late 30s-early 40s and maybe began with the b team or juvenil A and did ok, then he would make the jump to the 1st team. That would be exciting to watch.

I would be very upset if we hired Emery.
I like him more now then say 2 seasons ago, but I cant say im a fan.
We can do better.

Re: The next coach after Pep Guardiola?
just look what he's managed to do with a valencia squad thats lost its 3 best players in the last two years? imagine how screwed barca would be if we sold, messi, iniesta and xavi in that space of time and couldnt reinvest the money?! what he's accomplished with whats at his disposal has been impressive and id be interested to see what he could manage with a top quality squad!

Re: The next coach after Pep Guardiola?
Well I would say lets not compare Valencia to Barca. I mean, the expectations are different.
Anyway, yes, he has done a good job of keeping them consistently 3rd or 4th despite the loss of key peices.
However, look at the negatives.
Over the top sideline antics which his own players have mocked. Doesnt have the respect of all the players.
Often negative lineups in big games when a postive one was needed.
Early sub or benching of Banega in big games for defensive purposes.
Not the best results in the CL. They could do better.
Not saying he is a bad coach, but we can do alot better.

I think the problem is he overthinks.
He is a brilliant tactician and sometimes he obsesses too much over tactics instead of just playing a natural game.
If he gets that under control then he will be one of the best coaches around.
I am with prom here.I wouldnt mind Emery coaching us one day.

Dont you think we could do better though?
Arent there at least 5 coaches you would have before him?
For me, there are about 10.

alex, very interesting points. Let's also add that he tinkers a bit too much with his lineup from game to game. Very few coaches manage to do that with positive effect. Benitez was always ill-reputed for that. Pep does it reasonably well but sometimes too much rotation causes problems even for his team.
Re: The next coach after Pep Guardiola?
i dont know tbh, there really arent that many coaches out there that dont have some potential problems that may occur!

Re: The next coach after Pep Guardiola?
Perhaps we can find one more young prospect like we found Pep. None of the established coaches seem like they could continue Pep's work on the same lines. Maybe Tito Villanova can be given a shot.
Re: The next coach after Pep Guardiola?
id really prefer not to go with a complete unknown coach again tbh! we got extremely lucky with Pep and nobody expected him to be as good as he is, rather not gamble again like that!!

Re: The next coach after Pep Guardiola?
I'd say Enrique is a shoe in for that spot.
Although like the majority of his career he'd likely end up looking second rate (Pep is tough act to follow)

Nando Sanvito (Mediaset journalist): "Sacchi knows Guardiola very good and he told me that Pep is considering quitting job of a coach." [ona.fm]
Do you think that Pep will take a break from a job? His recent quotes about his contract renewal are pointing that he is not confident about coaching for another year. Maybe he has enough of pressure, AS, Marca bs? I think that he will renew for one year but it will take a while, I expect a renewal in March, Pep will keep supporters in waiting mode for some time.
