Re: Todays players after 50 years - Who will be remembered?
Well, depends a bit from how old a person's perspective you're looking at it.
A 20-year-old in 2060 won't remember that many players from today, but if I'm alive when I'm 76, I'll remember much more.
Örrr, I'll just say Messi :king:

Re: Todays players after 50 years - Who will be remembered?
A whole host imho, Ballack will probably always be remembered for the tragedy that was his career of 2nd places, half the current Spain squad will probably be romanticized to become legends, players like Messi and CR7 will be well regarded as among the greatest of their generation, Klose will probably be a household name after he scores 2 more at the 2014 WC, and if he continues his run, Gomez is as guaranteed a place in the history books of football as Schweinsteiger.
I obviously didn't think hard about this so I forgot a shitload of players and mostly mentioned Germans because they're on my mind the most, but there's other candidates, like Rooney.

Yeah yeah before making list you ask yourself: do you remember any player from 1950-60?

A shitload.
Ferenc Puskas, Helmut Rahn, Max Morlock being the foremost, that any German probably remembers.
And of course Fritz f*cking Walter.

Re: Todays players after 50 years - Who will be remembered?
there arent a lot of players from 50 years ago that are remembered today,so i dont see a lot being remembered in the next 50 years.
Messi,CR,Xavi,Iniesta from today, from recent players I would say R9,Rivaldo,Zidane,Totti,Del Piero and few more

Re: Todays players after 50 years - Who will be remembered?
Totti was mentioned and I think people are underestimating how long 50 years really is. It is basically 5 generations of players and in a lot of countries the average lifetime of a person.
It's hard to think of any players from 50 years ago now a days but then again in 50 years if your curious about a Messi or Ronaldo or Ronaldinho you will probably be able to watch all there games if you wanted because technology is so much better.
You basically need to look at players who have acomplished huge feats like Xavi and Iniesta for wining Spains first World Cup, Messi and Ronaldo for there goal scoring records, Casillas for the length of his career at the top plus the World Cup and captain of Spain.

Re: Todays players after 50 years - Who will be remembered?
I will personally never forget Thierry Henry.
I thought about naming my son (in the future) after his name but it sounds pointless without both name and last name, dont know if its a good idea to include both.
Zinedine Zidane will be remembered more than likes of Ronaldos and co imo.

Re: Todays players after 50 years - Who will be remembered?
you guys are over rating your fav players. How many players of 20 years ago do you remember without actually thinking about it ? well there's Maradona, Platini coz he's the president of EUFA, and whatever legends from your fav club and country. thats it, and that's only 20 years not 50. You'll have to keep in mind that the 16 years old of that time wont bother with the past since they'll be too busy wanking off to their "legends" the way we do it now, so from this prespective, only Messi and probably Ronaldo will survive the test of time, others simply wont
