Alcohol took the best out of him it seems.

I've read an interview of Zanetti just last week... he said something like "Adriano was my biggest failure as a captain". The loss of his father destroyed him mentally. Never was the same after that apparently, no teammates was able to prevent the self-destruction and they never could cheer him up.

He's one of those great, unfinished stories and it is a shame. Defenders were AFRAID of him.
