100 games in the steps of a machine
I have to say that i never planned this post, never thought it through, as I am a fairly average writer - at least in my language of adoption. But here we are going through a very particular time in our club history, and I was greatly surprised not to see anything posted on the subject. When writing the title of this thread, i started worrying about the content of my OP, about writing a text at the height of such moment. So i will try to keep this short, not too serious and I hope, the moment is solemn enough on itself to fill the many gaps i am sure to leave.
100 games, 95 goals, 28 assists.
It's not a secret that Ronaldo is not exactly one of my favorite player, and i am sure i have been called a Ronaldo hater here many times before. Well, what can i say, i am simply not infatuated by his curly hair. However, it is not very difficult for me to admit just how insane of a goalscorer he is. Actually, i am not going on a stretch by saying that he is the most complete goal scoring machine i ever witnessed in my life, La Maquina, as fairly nicknamed by Marca last year.
What can't he do? Season after season, it's an orgsmic display of goal scoring recitals we are witness of. Headers? check. Long range fireballs? check. Tap ins? hell yes he can do those, so much that it has become a way to demean him. Silly! You might as well spit on Van Nistelrooy's boots. Free kicks? Not an poet, but then again, putting the ball in the nets is all we truly care about don't we? He scores them by buckets, think KFC bucket of chicken tights, and makes no secret of wanting more and more goals.
In fact, as a Real Madrid fan, there is nothing that excites me more than our undying will to go forward. And in truth, if there is one player at the club that is a living embodiment of such heritage, it's Ronaldo - well, not only him, but i am trying to be nice here. That insatiable hunger to win is what unites us all madridistas, that inaudible scream he expresses after scoring each and everyone of his goals. It translates passion, love, commitment and dedication to our football club. We are currently watching a club legend going through the motion, a very exceptional breed of player in our history that will have future generations dream of donning the white of Madrid.
At this point, i was planning on going through what he accomplished so far in his time in Madrid, but that's too much work. To this day, Ronaldo has only been able to help the club through a Copadel Rey victory. Well, cules call it the broken trophy, and the cup of spain they play as a sunday league final, so i am trying not to offend them if they happen to read this. As our team is growing in maturity, the ambition for greater trophies is growing more concrete, and this year we certainly boast more chances of accomplishing greater things.
It has very often been said that for Real Madrid to win, they needed to achieve a better collective game overall, with a more generous Ronaldo, as opposed to the self-absorbed scoring douche he can turn into. And it is with great pleasure that we are discovering this season and more generous player in Ronaldo, looking to set up his team mates more so than he used to be. In only 8 games this year, he was able to score 8 goals, and ditch 6 assists, and how wonderful was it that for his 100th game in Madrid, he did not forget his passing boots, specially when in his first one on one against the keeper, he selflessly assisted Higuain.
I am very happy to have a player like Ronaldo in RM, specially when whenever he is on the pitch, i feel like we have that ability to score at any times. Only two teams in football today can boast about having such an attacking weapon, one that can make the difference at any times, and who will prove decisive for us in our trophy hunt. I am even more happy to be witnessing a top tier club legend in the making, as it might look like be the most unappreciated thing in this football club. Not to say that there would be no Real Madrid without Ronaldo, but i would not wish him to be somewhere else at this point in time. Let's appreciate what we have.

It makes me cringe sometimes when some of our supporters can actually take him for granted and hate on him. People have to understand that Barca are having the best time in their history and Ronaldo can't be blamed for us not winning big trophies.

Re: 100 games in the steps of a machine
Hehe thx, it's true that we take him a little for granted. But, it might be that people feel like he wasnt fulfilling his potential, as we felt like he could do more.
Just by trying to be more collective and generous, he can accomplish a lot more.

Damn man well said. Excellent post.
Ronaldo will probably be remembered by us as one of our best ever players.
Insane numbers, this can not be understated enough.

Re: 100 games in the steps of a machine
Wow nick, you have emotions? Wouldnt have thought...
Anyway, I feel the same. Unlike many here, I did not dislike Cristiano before he came, so I was more similar to the adoring public than some cynical fans (CR is a cancer, etc...). Ronaldo is one of my favourite players in Madrid, if he can get more used to a role involving more teamwork, it will be better for everyone.
Future club legend? Well, its certainly possible. In sheer statistics he will probably surpass the Brazilian Ronaldo, so I think we will probably look at him like a true Madrid legend in the future.

Yh, when you have a player that scores 95 goals in 100 games, then he is bound to become a club legend.
If we win la liga or the CL this year, his status is going to grow larger even. He is an era player for Madrid at the moment.

My feelings are hurt I can't live with myself anymore You've been posting ignorant vitriol about Ronaldo for years, and you expect me to sing your praise for one half-hearted thread praising him, ... Fairer poster my arse.
