Arsenal Lobby
Well, this thread reached over 2,750 posts in the goal.com forum so I find no reason not to have it again in this one.
You guys know the drill, post anything Arsenal-related here. Instead of having to create a new thread for every single question or topic, we can just keep our forum a bit more neat.
Welcome to the new forums, and I hope you all enjoy your stay
Do feel free to explore these awesome new emoticons haha
Original thread was created by our good old friend Jamin, so I thought I'd give him the credit for this one

Its cool, I actually edited it after you corrected me haha
I have to wonder though, are we setting ourselves up for a disaster?
We have Song, who is an integral part of our team, who has to go away for ACON every 2 years. There's also Eboue as well. Now we are in to buy Gervinho and Samba; both of them are expected to play big roles (starting roles, even) in our team and both will have to go away once every 2 years.
Am I the only one that sees this as a problem? Sure, this means that some young talents can step up and prove themselves, but what if they fail? Do we really want to take such a risk in a very important season where winning trophies is imperative?
Edit** Silly me, I forgot Chamakh. Thats 5 players, not just 4.

I mentioned this in the transfer rumour thread. Adding the potential signing of Odemwingie to the list, we could be losing up to six players. That's a horrible amount of players to lose in the middle of the season, especially when we have no able replacement for Song, inconsistent forwards and an injury prone striker.

Ahh, I didn't read it
(Yes, I love adding completely irrelevant emoticons lol)
I think this will be a major problem, I really do. Wenger must be careful.
Although, a lot will have to do with what goes on with the youth academy/reserves/loaned out players.
We have Coquelin, Frimpong and Lansbury all capable of playing as DMs but none of them have proven that they can cut it in the EPL. Frimpong's passing is not good, to put it nicely while Coquelin might have trouble with the physical aspects of the league and Lansbury has been playing in more offensive positions during his loan.
In attack, we will only have RVP who is injury prone, for a whole month. That is bad...really, really bad. Bendtner is definitely leaving, meaning that RVP will be the only one there.
We can cope with the losses of Gervinho, Eboue and Samba though, at least I think we can.
I doubt Wenger will make such a rookie error, but I'm allowed to be afraid aren't I?
All of these transfers happening is probably unlikely

Re: Arsenal Lobby
There's also Vela but the fact that both of us forgot about him sums him up.
I think we can be genuinely worried. Samba joining is becoming more and more likely by the day (latest rumours are he's close to agreeing personal terms) and there are strong noises about Gervinho joining as well.
Biggest concern is Song going, as always.

Re: Arsenal Lobby
Samba plays for DR Congo, correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think Congo qualified.
I can't believe Arsenal are wasting time with Odemwinge, he is at the right level for his own career sake he whould stay where he is.
Chamakh will be a big miss for Arsenal that month considering RVP's injury record. One medial ligament strain and the title is done.

Re: Arsenal Lobby
Supposedly, and for cover for both wings as well I assume.
Still hope we don't go for him.
Unrelated, but how has the Real Madrid section got 606 posts already?

Right now all the interest is coming from two key factors: 1) his early season form and 2) the fact he only has a year left on his contract.
Another bad season plus 4/5 years left on his contract would suddenly make a not so attractive proposition.
Well, we know he's good so he won't put in a "bad" performance. Plus, amazing performances, even for a short period of time, stick to people's memories. Ribery is still living off of what he used to be 4 years ago for example.
In all cases, we'd be getting at least a bit more money than we would now. I mean, right now we're going to get...20 million? Maximum? Not really good enough for me

Not sure about Congo tbh.
And yes, I think that Odemwingie will be a waste of time for us. Good player, but should stay with WBA. Won't achieve much with us really.
I think thats why the third striker is going to be very important. Bendtner is out and we will have ~10 million or more from his transfer. We need to make a purchase that will get us through that month without Chamakh and only RVP up front
